OR maybe the 2500 you drove needs checked out. Because my 3500 is about as quite as anything I have driven.

I don't know, been around a bunch of the new diesels and they seem about the same to me. But seriously, check into your Lade as 07'/08' has major problems with noise, I think there was a recall, faulty seals (window seals etc). As a friends 07' Escalade was noisy as heck until he had the dealer fix it.

I guess you don't need the other pickuptrucks.com link (http://special-reports.pickuptrucks....-shootout.html). Best ride, best mileage, best (subjective) looks, best brakes, fastest....the list goes on!
No I don't need it but It is definately reassuring

I know they had some issues with the Lads, not sure if they ever got it where it should be. They put styrofoam in the mirrors on my last one. I still couldn't tell a difference.
But the 3500 is great. I actually didn't think to much about it untill my wife keep talking about how quiet it was.

Has anyone compared transmission gear ratios, between the three ?
Then Urea, @ $50.00/5,000 miles, thats $0.10/mile, for what ? Add $10,000.00/100,000 miles to the $5,000.00 price difference between Dodge and the other two and they better do better than run up the hill, they better jump over it !!
One more Urea ? on Duramax, how many gallon tank and how much a gallon?

The GM/Ford dealers say to budget $0.10/mile for Urea. The Dodge w/factory box doesn't use Urea...The cab and chassis models do.

I have a 2007, Dodge, 5.9 cummins w/6600 miles that we only use to pull the boats. However, the automatic transmission is geared to high to pick up the load, on the ramp. (2 wheel drive )

The automatic transmission in the 2011 models are geared much deeper and would make a good solution behind any 5.9.

However, the dealers have never made that conversion and are skeptical. However, the Dodge dealers service dept. is slow, so, he is seriously considering doing one for feasibility.

Otherwise, we will buy a 2011, non - Urea Dodge or a bigger non - Urea truck of another brand.

I don't understand why people don't want urea. It takes the place of the much-cursed and expensive DPF. Ford was absolutely right in using urea in its new diesel engine and Dodge should have done the same in its box trucks.

Yeh their all way quieter then they used to be even just a couple years ago, thats some damn good engineering when you can get a diesel truck to be as quiet as a lot of a cars lol. But yeh the mirrors we're a problem on the Lades/Denalis, seems they didn't get the gaps tight so you get this f'n annoying whistling sound...which was irritating on the highway lol

Not true, it's in addition to the DPF. Read this...

http://www.thedieselpage.com/duramax/LMLDuramaxc.htm

I don't know why anyone would budget 10 cents/mile. The system is designed to use about 5 gallons in 5000 miles. I just bought 5 gals. of DEF for $26 at Napa. It's only going to get cheaper the more it's used, too. However, that works out to about 1/2 cent per mile. It's really not that big of a deal.

I've got an 2011 F-250 that is at 11.5 K filled up the Urea tank once........ I got it done at the dealer with the first oil change complimentary. I bought something like a 2.5 gallon container for 10+ dollars. Bottom line it's not going to be that big of a hassle. It is amazing how clean it is. I can start it in my garage and let it warm up. Absolutely no diesel smell. You can wipe the end of the exhaust pipe and absolutely no soot. The new diesels are amazing, I know that it is not near as good as a Duramax...........
