06 F350 crew cab 4x4 with a 6.0 has 135k on it now, high pressure oil pump and requlator at 105k, fuel pressure regulator at 110k, FICM at 120K, just put 8 injectors in two weeks ago. Stock truck no programer tow a 42 footer about 5k a year. Love the truck but the 6.0 has been expensive.

An ex of mine has a 2006 F-350 with the 6.0. I know the 2004 and 2005 were supose to be the problem engines, but she's had a LOT of issues with her 2006. I think the general rule of thumb is just to stay away from the earlier 6.0L, but based on the number of calls I've received from her over the years (and number of very expensive trips to the steelership), I'd suggest just staying away from the 6.0L if possible... or at least get a great deal on one and be prepared for issues that could be costly.

With that said, I've heard good things about the 6.4L and the obviously the older 7.3L.

Seems I hear more wrong with 6.0's then good. EGR's and injectors top the list as the most common on STOCK motors.

Just kicking it around right now, thanks for the responses.

Is the 08 still a 6.0?

No, starting in 2008 Ford used the 6.4 diesel engine for model years 08,09 and 2010. The new 6.7 started on 2011

Got it I couldn't remember what year they started. I am not a fan of first year anything.
I guess I spent to many years supplying most of the major manufactures and seen how SOP goes in the first year.

buying a 6.0 is like buying a boat with omc cobras on the back . think about resale, if so many people have issues , is it worth the chance? maybe youll get a good one. if you buy a 6.0 ,what ever you do dont let the wife know, that you know about there reputation, she will remind you every time your on the side of the road or the trucks apart. believe me!

I have heard all the bad reports on 6.0 engines, however I have not had one bit of problem from my 06 f250.103000 miles, no problems. It's a great truck. I'm gonna sell mine, but only to switch back to a dually.

The difference is the OMC Cobras were actually pretty durable, unlike Fords 6.0. My 03 F250 lasted a whopping 177,000 miles. The Cobras would last, but the public never bought into them.
