Many i have looked at are diesel's and I dont have much knowledge on aspects such as maintainance probs & cost compared to gas.
Also I see models (Diesels) with 50000 80000 miles on them. Should I not be thinking; too many miles, as I would with gas?

If your wondering purpose for truck.
I have no real use with a f250 other than just wanting one.
I currently only have a 25 ft boat but always looking for more.

Thanks Mark
Resale value will be higher for a diesel.

For fewest maintenance and other problems Dodge is first followed by GM then Ford. My opinion only, others will differ.

You will pay more for a used diesel truck.

50,000-80,000 miles is nothing for a diesel. They can go at least 300,000 miles before overhaul. I have seen Cummins diesels go over a million miles with upper engine work only.

I towed my 24' 5000lb rig with a 1 ton diesel. It's always better to have more truck than you need.

In 3/4 ton diesel I would suggest the Dodge with the Common Rail 5.9 first, Duramax second and 7.3 Ford third. Again just my .02.

3/4 ton gas I would go with the 8.1 GM first and Ram Hemi second.

My point was that I can tow twice as much and still get much better mileage.

Mark if you are thinking that you'll move up in size and weight then I would consider the diesel if you can, it is so much easier with one. Like others have said they are more money to purchase and more money to maintain. But the maintenance issues I have had is few and far between. But I don't want to spit into the wind!

The mileage you are looking at in diesels aren't even broken in yet. and probably still under factory warranty. Most if not all come with 7/100,000. There are tons of diesel forums (just like OSO) out there for all the big three, I would join and start learning.... they all have/had issues, so learn about them now before shopping.

This is our 4th diesel and I do not ever see me not having one... once it is in your blood it is hard to shake.

Hope this helps.

mark, if you are looking at one here at lindquist.... look up the stock number. ill go punch a slaesperson in the face and take their lock box keys. ill grab the truck and look her over. then u can drive it and such with no salesperson hassle until you want it. thse guys are relentless and annoying. or you can give mine a try this summer with the nordic. you wont know its back there... you will like it. and what better place to live. right near me. buy a 6.0 ill get her all updated. and with a 07 it should have warranty left. ill tell you all the right things to complain about to get the updates that are needed without a dime out of pocket.

oh yeah, its gonna flood like a mother this season. i think we should invest in a flat bottom/log hitter.

Thanks for all the replys.
I am dead set on the Ford 250 with 4 door crew, Lariat Model. About 90% sure on diesel.
Fixxxer the stock # is 11342a arizona Beige. Thanks for checking into.
Have 3 models trucks looking at all 2007 Lariats.
07 with 81000 asking 28k powerstroke
07 with 84000 asking 24k v10
07 with 91000 asking 27k powerstroke
I've always had a bad habit of walking in and taking what I want (no haggling) but this time I'm going to take my time, research, test'em out & see.

not trying to rip on Fords, however, i too have a very good buddy who runs a large ford shop and he basically said those motors are junk in the F250's, to get the 7.3 in the F350 if you want to stay ford. with that being said - i would definitely do your research as to what years to avoid and what exactly the issues are(were). personally i have several friends driving them and to my suprise two of their brand new trucks were back in the shop within 3 months, 1 tranny issues and the other was leaking antifreeze. (both fixed under warranty - 1 was an 09 the other a 2010 model) 1 of them was already traded off due to the confidence he lost in it having issues this early on.

Good luck shopping

that truck has had 2 repairs. 1 for a stuck cd in player and one i upgraded the hp oil rails at 66k. we have most of the history on it. oil changes, tire rotations, ect. and one attempt at a cliam for a cracked rim. it has the 20's and if i remember correct he hit something in the snow last year. ill try and grab it sometime today.

and will, you are refrencing the 6.4 and i do agree. they have had a hard time. our trannys are as hard as a coffin nail so your buddy may just have had an odd one.
