Just hit 110 miles on my 2011 F350 Lariat......so far so good...:coolcowboy: ..lol......I'll keep you guys posted when I rack up a few thousand miles.........I have to say one thing though, the interior is AWESOME!!!! The thing rides unbelievable and it really is quiet compared to any other diesel I have driven before.....so far, I LOVE it !!

I had to lease a 2011 Duramax and it seemed to work a little better. But both systems are not like a Jake Brake or Exhaust Brake with a Valve. They work off turbo back pressure of the high RPMs from the transmission down shifting I am being told. I went into this truck thinking I would have exhaust braking every time in tow/haul mode. This is NOT AT ALL THE CASE! In 6th gear on two lane roads while towing I watch my speed increase 10-15 mph if I don't do anything. I submitted this to Ford and their reply was I needed to be in Tow/Haul mode and the RPM has to be above 2000. The problem is this, in 6th gear I am at 1300rpm and 5th I am at 1700rpms.... nowhere near 2000! Once in 4th or 3rd I am well into the 2000RPM range, but all I am feeling at this point is transmission/gear braking an no engine/exhaust braking. The increased back pressure is a by-product of the higher RPMs. I would not let this keep one from getting this truck. If you are really wanting an exhaust brake test drive all the trucks. |

True, but remember, Ford has made it very easy to remove the cab from these trucks to address that very issue. Once the cab is off, everything is pretty easy to get to. |
