I love my 06 but i would love to change the front end to the new body style.

All you guys wanting to upgrade and change the front end to the new style, I have the new style! And no one compliments it when the boat is in tow(or not in tow)!!! Just tow your boat!!and all compliments or questions go directly toward the boat. "sharp boat", "how fast", "how much gas it burn?" bottom line, just tow the boat and you'll get compliments.

Been daily driving a GMC 06 Duramax 2500HD crew cab longbed single axle since it was new. Love the damned thing, best truck I've ever owned. It rolls on 22" wheels, black with tan leather and fully loaded. I still get compliments on it regularly.
But now it has 88k miles on it. And even though I still like the 'Classic' body style, I guess its getting a bit dated. Last year of the old body style with GMC I think. So what to do? I own this thing outright, no payments. New one (or perhaps dually) is $55k. Money isn't really the issue, but its still money spent if I buy a new one. And lets face it, I will sooner or later anyway. It runs great, no issues. Ever. It tows a twin engine 29 Fountain, so is plenty enough for my boat although I'd probably get a dually next time in case the boat 'grows' :D Do I keep driving this thing or trade now? Any thoughts or knowledge on how long this current truck will just keep on rolling everytime I turn the key? Is my resale going to disappear as soon as it hits 100k miles? Its probably worth $23k, maybe $25k now I think. I'm not normally so damned indecisive. Just really like this truck and don't want to get into a 2011 for no reason, or be disappointed. To make it worse, I can get a deep deal on a Ford through my relationship with them, but the current truck has me sold on the Duramax / Allison combo. Help a guy make a decision? Jeez, I sound like my old lady trying to find a pair of shoes... lol... As to the new Ford powertrain they hit a home run with it. Don't make a trade w/o driving one. |
$500 exhaust and $500 programmer and you can get rid of the Diesel Particle Filter or the urea, I did, and it's stout with the programmer.

IMO, you're nuts to get rid of an LBZ Dmax.
My sentiments exactly! At 88k, it isn't even broken in yet. My '07 lbz dually has 89k, and I plan to keep it til it dies. |
I love my 06 Duramax too! LBZ and no emissions is great!
If you get anything newer you will have at a minimum DPF and new add eurea to the mileage killing emissoin system. I like the feel of the new seats compared to these in my 06 much better but that "paid for" feeling is great!! P.S. I went with the DRW this time and absolutely love it. Once you go DRW you won't go back after towing with it. Sorry to add another dilema....................... SRW vs DRW???????????? |
I too think you should keep it, emissions suck, although my buddy had a new 2500 denali and I gotta say I'd give my nuts for one of them
