What's the mpg with these things. Thinking about getting one. My wife has an edge now and with two kids we could use a little more room. I like the idea of 3rd row seating. Thanks jason.

My wife has been getting about 16 so far. She doesn't drive it hard, but it has the V8/V6/V4 mode option so if you really wanted to focus your efforts you could probably do a little better....

That is exactly what I get... 16 on my old and new. It is worse if you use the E85 fuel. :( But on the bright side, E85 is $3.12 per gallon which on average will save you $23 every time you fill up! :)

Well not really.. my buddies Tahoe on E85 is horrible on fuel, like 10 mpg if lucky, and E-85 here is not much cheaper then regular.
The Tahoe has a 24 gallon tank. Looks like the cost per mile when using regular is about: $.26 and on E85 it's $.31 (based on CA gas prices). Guess i'm sticking with regular!!!!! haha :) not to mention finding an E85 station in Southern Cali is like trying to find a needle in a haystack... you have to fill up cans of gas and store them in your garage to justify the drive to even get the gas! lol |
We have a 2010 tahoe with 14000 love the truck but when engine goes from v8 to v4 and it shifts to 6th gear there is a horrible vibration. We had a chevy engineer came to drive the tahoe and they say there is no repair for the truck. I am now trying to figure out if we trade it back in or wait to see if they come up with fix. The truck shifts great in manual mode.

were in the same boat, have a 6 month old and it's kinda of a pain with my wife's car, I can see going to the beach will be a real pain, it's paid off though so it's nice not having a payment, but it would be real nice to walk into a dealer and put 15-20K down on a Tahoe.
just curious what is the max that you would tow comfortably with a Tahoe? (not what their rated for) |
Our boat/trailer/gear is around 5k and you know its be hind you, I would not want to pull much more on long trips.

I'm occasionally towing a Formula 260SS with my '08 Tahoe AWD with the larger engine option. Only 14K miles on the truck. Tows pretty well right at the towing limit around 7400 lbs with weight-distributing hitch and trunion bars, but you definately know it is back there. I upgraded to Hotchkis stabilizer bars front and rear, and keep tire pressures at max recommended which makes a huge difference in sway control. Also want to upgrade to the Bilstein shocks in the near future.

aesome vechiles...i recommend the all wheel drive models w the bigger engines ....if your keeping them for the long run. there is plenty of room for 2-3 kids and a dog and some groceys in back!!
they are safe and dont have a ton of problems and of course the GM trucks are rated the best for a reason by consumer digests and automotive magazines. Expirence: I just sold my denali after 6-7 years it was a hell of a truck |
