Problems with Electric Brakes

I had a new electric brake sysytem installed in my 2010 one ton Chevy dually and it will not activate the brakes on my Extreme boat trailer.
The brakes worked fine when hooked up to my F650, so I know they work, but not with the new system in the Chevy. The installing dealer says all is right.
Someone told me there is an adapter for Carlyle brakes. Any idea's where to start? Dan

I called Extreme first and they told me which controllers would work with their trailer. It is true that there is an adapter. Call Extreme and save some time. My Stock Ford controller does work and even has a mode for electric over hydraulic. They were made by tekonesha in 06. Good luck.

I don't have access to it anymore, was a service advisor at a Chev dealer until last June. I did find this online and beleive it is correct from memory.
If your truck was not built with the factory controller, you must hook your aftermarket controller up to
the truck as follows:
Dark blue - Controller to trailer brakes
Red with Black stripe - Fused power feed to controller
Light blue with White stripe - Brake signal to controller
White - Ground
Orange - CHMSL (high mounted stop lamp) not used in most applications.
Then, go under the hood and locate the red wire that is taped to the harness between the
underhood electrical center and the fender. Place the ring terminal attached to that wire to the
larger of the two studs in the electrical center using an M8 nut. The fuse is already in the fuse
center for this stud.
If this doesn't help, just ask your Chevy dealer for bulletin on wiring trailer brake box and they should give it to you. I printed out alot for customers.
Just to make sure, you don't have the factory controls in this truck do you?

There are 2 wires. One red one wrapped in black electrical tape to the left of the power distribution box toward the firewall. That is the 12 V feed in trailer plug. The other is a red one wrapped in black electrical tape between power distribution box and the fender. It is the brake controller power wire. It powers the brake controller wires under the dash for an aftermarket brake controller. Both have terminals that fit the 2 studs at the front of the power dist. box. You will need 2 metric nuts to attach them and probably one or both of the fuses.

This wiring issue sounds good. The company I bought the controller from claims I need to buy an even more expensive system that will handle electric over hydraulic brakes, but the instructions that came with current system says it will work on my type of brakes.
