New (used) Tow Rig

1 Attachment(s)
Just got home about noon today with our new (used) tow rig. Did the deal in my usual fly by the seat of my pants, leap of faith fashion. :drink::evilb: Found it on the internet, wired the guy a grand and booked a one-way flight to Texas. Flew down, the guy met me at the airport with the truck and his wife following him. I gave him a check and signed the papers and hauled azz heading east. No real issues, other than being detained by the PoPo in Arkansas for an hour or so while they searched me, my bags and the truck, then let fido sniff it before sending me on my way. Bored cops with nothing better to do in the middle of the night. Stopped by Pier57 to see my friends and took a tour. They've got a bunch of cool chit there!!!!

Anyway, the truck made it, ran flawlessly, burned or leaked no oil and was easy on fuel. Mama's happy and I'm happy. Life is good. No reason to not drag OldSchool II to some poker runs now!! :evilb::evilb:

3126 CAT. 6-speed Allison and between 12 and 14.8....depending on what speed I went. The first day I never went over 65 and got 14.8 mpg. I couldn't believe it! :D That changed as I became comfortable with it.

 Just put it up on our local club site as a feeler. It just sits there and never gets used. :(

RT930turbo 04-20-2011 07:04 AM

Looks great man! Those things do drive nice for medium duty rigs. Does it have Air suspension?

waycool marine 04-20-2011 07:25 AM

very cool ive had a couple of those in the past few years. you will be amazed when you put the boat on it.I currently have a 650, same motor /trans. pulling my cig 70-80 mph i still get around 10. my old ford 550 got 4. any questions on the trucks pm me. last one I had had a stock beat up interior. I put a new interior package from sportchassis and it was relatively cheap.

I have a 2500HD Chevy crew cab with the Duramax/Allison. It pulled the Cig fine. The problem is that it is rated to tow 12000lbs. and we all know that I'm over that. Thinking with the "what if" mode made me buy this. If a family in a minivan pulled out in front of me and there was an accident, I think that the insurance company would turn their back on me. That wouldn't be pretty. :( Don't have to worry about that anymore! :D

Air ride seats and suspension. It's not air brakes....but some kind of hybrid air over something or other. I don't know, but there is air related to the maxi brake???

Cool.... and thanks. This one was customized by a company in Dallas called Western Hauler. It has some neat stuff in it. A woman owned it and hauled a horse trailer with it. She traded it in on a newer one. She would take it to the Freightliner dealer regularly for maintenance and forwarded all of the maintenance records, so I have a good feeling after looking at all of it that it'll be good for us.

Thanks Buck. The PoPo wasn't thrilled that I was running without a tag on it. :D:drink: :chimp: I had a paper tag and all of the documentation in the cab with me. They told me when they let me go to stop at the next exit and get some tape to display it in the back window. I stopped and got some tape........about 4 hours later. :D:D

offshoredrillin 04-20-2011 08:20 AM

Cool, its an extended cab, from the pic w Nancy I couldn't tell, I like that, nice shorter wheelbase. That will be perfect for tight ramps and such.

It's got a nice bed back there with a coffin sized storage compartment under it. I was surprised how comfy it is. I slept in that beeotch twice for 6 hours or so on the way back. :D

jayboat 04-20-2011 09:01 AM

Plenty of space for toys and tools- looks perfect for your boat.

jimmystartup 04-20-2011 09:06 AM

Do you need any special license endorsement to drive that rig? Around here I think you can drive anything under 24,000lbs with your regular G lic, as long as it doesn't have air brakes.

Queenie 04-20-2011 09:10 AM

Very nice rig sweetie! Very nice.

Couple questions?
-Who the fack is minding the store while your lollygagging around the country like that?
y
-When are you finally going to put your thumb away and bring your own boat to SoFlo for a run???

And finally

-When are the Redskins make the playoffs again?

BTW Nice truck!:drink:
