Default trailer tires.. bias vs radial

I am looking for input on a set of trailer tires (225 75 15). I need to replace them soon and looking for opinions on which way to go and what brands to consider. I do not have far to travel to get to the water, however we do take two long trips to LOTO every summer. I am pulling 28 foot Donzi zx on a aluminum trailer. I have used both bias (carlisle) and radilas (marathon) on my previous boats, cant say I would run out and buy either again. Thank you.

I saw the other day that Carlisle now has this size in an E rating. I've had problems with Carlisle berfore, but this may be an improvement. I personally have had good luck with the Goodyears but I know there are lots of real world bad stories. Has anyone had the Carlisle E tires?

I just bought a set $105 a tire at Discount Tire.I spoke with the guy at Discount about Carlisle tires he said they sell a ton of Carlisle's,they had some problems with them a few years back but since then they have been good.He also said most problems with trailer tires are the owners fault, age, underinflation, abuse.Another thing that he did mention Carlisle sells so many trailer tires that you are going to hear more complaints about them.

The only advantage I know of a bias-ply tire over a radial is it is more forgiving if you curb it, otherwise radials hands down!

Bias ply will handle being pushed sideways across solid ground better than a radial will.. If you have to do some jackknifing to get your boat in and out of storage, the belts in the radials will come apart during sideloading and then again going down the highway..

I have always had good luck with a radial tire on a boat or car trailer.

My experience : radials appearance looks good no matter age or after hitting pothole. Therefore if you are not really observant of the radials condition, you can have a failure. Bias tires show age and wear more. Also bias lose air more. I'm sold on radials for their foot print not deforming under load like a bias. The radial runs cooler because of not deforming. Cooler tire is important to prevent blowout when it's really hot or tires start aging. Most important, don't use a car tire on a trailer. Car/truck radials are just not as durable or stiff enough sidewall as an trailer tire.

I always buy the cheapest radials I can find. Just replaced all 8 last fall. Ordered them on Ebay already mounted on chrome rims. Made it easy.

Here's the seller I bought from.
