i'm not at the level you guys are but i just bought an 11' 1500 w/ the 3.92 rear and love it, this is my 3rd ram and by far my favorite, just came back from a trip with some friends and he was towing a 19ft tahoe w/ 2500 diesel and he was amazed with how my 1500 towed our nordic, we kept right with him up and down the hills no prob, granite my rage weighs in around 5k, but on the highway at 70 we don't even feel the boat behind us

15-16mpg towing to Havasu in 120*. Diesel will outlast and out tow and get better mpg over a gasser any day. Mach injectors are the best you can buy @ $900 set. Oil/filters may run $20/more a change. If you're only going to tow 10k on the weekends and 5mi, then No, don't buy a diesel. If you're hauling 100-1k miles then definately. It's all in what you intend to use the truck for on a daily and weekend basis. It's not about being at any level but get a truck that can safely handle the weight you throw at it; I tend to go overkill on things and carry backup parts if I decide to tow my Baja down the Baja1k.

That's dam good mileage with a Hemi and 3.92 axle towing 5000lbs. I got 16-17 with a Cummins and 3.55 towing that weight.

Youll thank yourself for not buying a diesel. $150 gas fill ups, $100 oil changes, and fuel filter changes twice a year at $60 a pop. If your not going far and boat is under 10 definitely go gas. I bought a diesel and my boat is on the cust of 10, really wish there was something else.

I towed a twin 29 Outlaw with an '09 Chrysler Aspen, Hemi and 3.92 rear. No issues at all. Plenty of power and stability. I'm sure I was north of 10K. Ram has stiffer springs and longer wheel base. Regular trailer brake service and you'll be just fine.

Im north of 10 as well and cant see going below a 250 right now. Boat is 7 dry, trailer is 2500 probably then add fuel and gear. I would guess close to 11k. But Im going to really think my next truck, this diesel is just a waste of money. My towing really consist of 2-3 times a month going maybe an hour.

I should clarify I didn't tow it all that much. 50 miles in spring from storage to marina. Vise versa in the fall.
Bought the Outlaw in Evansville, IN and brought it home to Cincinnati area (about 3 hour drive).
Other than that up and down the ramp at my marina. But the Aspen did just fine when I did tow.
