Its a great mill for sure, but the eco has a bunch more area under the curve which makes it a better towing engine.

As a hot rod truck the 6.2 is going to be absolutely killer.

I'll be looking at an eco, but am going to try to give the ole titan another year so I can pick up a used 2012 eco one season old. The 36 gallon tank is a lifesaver for what I do (towing 90% of the time the truck is running or I just take a car) and a practical 25 gallons at about 10 MPG just doesn't give me enough range.

Damn this is a long thread...read the first four pages and had to skip to the last. Traded my '06 6.0L in on a '10 6.4L...hated every minute of the two years I owned it. Tired of the really awful MPG, i pulled the trigger on a '12 EB. I've now made three trips pulling a sled trailer 350 miles each way chasing snow and know this truck was the right decision. Granted the sled trailer is only 6k loaded, but I've pulled this same load with diesels for the last four years and the EB pulls harder and trumps the diesel in MPG. From a standing stop, or the dreaded 50 to 70 MPG pass...the EB has unbelievable power from 3.5 liters of combustion. This is the wife's daily driver, so with the 3.73 gears she is getting 16.5 in city and the couple of trips we took on the highway without a load I was getting 19-20 MPG (towing was ~13 MPG). The real test will be when I hitch the kitty this summer; I normally do one pilgrimage to LOTO a year and loaded I will be damn close to the max rating. Congrats on your new truck.

Lol. Yup couldnt have made the choice sooner. Funny you say this bud of mine is converting today actually from his 10 6.4l. I get about 16ish in the city and almost 20hwy on mine. Tows the boat fine. I havent towed it enough to figure out if its way better or the same, but from the few hours towing I have on her it doesnt handle any different than my diesel. Granted I get 9.8 towing now instead of 10.3 in the diesel but towing is 5% or less of my driving.

Sure is nice not drivng a brick or having issues finding a diesel pump and the best part is not paying paying 4.35 a gallon for diesel.

Went to Fords "built your own" site last night to build my dream EB F150. The tow rating of 11,300 pounds seemed to be only if you ordered the 4:10 rear end ratio. When I selected 3:73 the tow rating dropped into the 9000 pound range. I wonder it this is something new from Ford or if I was just having a bad tech night?

No, you have to add the 3.73 gears to the EB and then you have to add the MAX trailer/Tow option to get the 11,300 without max tow you cant get 11,300. If you dont add the max tow you only get about 9800lbs. I might be wrong but I dont think you can get 410's in an EB. The build options is kind of screwy how it takes things on and off, keep in mind certain trim levels and box sizes determine what you can and cant get.

If you cant figre it out call a dealer tell him you want 11,300 and they figure it out.

Funny. My 2000 F350 V10 is rated for about the same. I love the Ecoboost in my Lincoln MKT. Maybe I can go down to 1 vehicle instead of 2. Other than up and down the ramp at my marina I tow twice a year. 35 miles - to and from winter storage.

The combo I tried was the FX4 Supercab with 6 1/2 foot bed. It required the 4:10s to get the 11,300# tow rating. (Personally the 4:10s would be on my want list as I put less than 1000 miles a year on my truck and would rather have the extra towing grunt.) The MAX trailer/tow package was an available option a few screens forward but there was nothing in writing on any of the pages stating that this increased the tow rating from 9800 to 11,300. I'm not saying you are incorrect as you own the truck and I am only an EB wantabee, just stating what I read online at Ford.com.

Yeah thats weird I tried it too and got the same thing. Mine is an xlt though and maybe the options are different on the Fx4. I cant imagine when you add 3.73s to the max tow on the FX4 you wouldnt get the same as the same Xlt package. Might have to contact a dealer. Dont matter what brand you try online you cant always get a true picture what builds you can it seems.

I bought the FX4 with the Super Crew, 5-1/2' bed and 3.73 gears which put max capacity at 11,200 lbs (both 3.73 or 4.10)....what is strange when I fooled around with wheel base length (dropping cab size & increasing bed), your right, the 3.73 had a lower capacity and you need the 4.10 to get the 11,300.

Pretty sure you wrong on this soldier. Either the max tow or the trailer tow package will give you the same results. Both give you the larger radiator, trans cooler, SelectShift, class IV hitch, brake controller (although not listed in the details) and 7 pin harness. Only difference is the mirrors and rear bumper.
