No Cell Phone Use for DOT Carriers
SubscribeHow about a $14,000 seat belt ticket?
How about a $14,000 smoking violation ticket?
How about a $14,000 ticket for having a head light out?
How about a $14,000 ticket for running 1 mph over?
How about a $14,000 ticket for tailgating?
How about a $100,000 fine for driving slow in the left land?
All of these are just as dangerous as talking on a cell phone while driving.(some of them more dangerous)

I'm all for making the roads safer!! If the intention of the new law is to make the roads safer, then ban PHONES for all segment of SOCIETY. Or make it more difficult for drivers to get a license or hold on to one for multiple violations!!!Originally Posted by US1 Fountain

Just wanted to add that Pennsylvania just passed a cell phone ban in passenger cars as well. There were a couple fatal accidents here recently that they were able to show the driver was in the act of texting when they wrecked. So now you need to have a hands free or blue tooth to talk and no texting. It is also listed on the books as a primary offense so you can be stopped for no other reason than being on the phone or texting.
this is a good law as its proven the amount of accidents this chit causes. Plus the ace pain trying to navigate around drivers that cant handle this. With all these new vehicles that have blue tooth in them or the ability to get a blue tooth for $20 bucks I am fine with it.

I agree, dont talk on the phone and you wont contribute revenue. How many phone calls or text do you have that are critical during a drive. Otherwise get the earpeice and rock and roll.Originally Posted by US1 Fountain

Why are so many people eager to let government control their live? I'm sure that anyone that sides with this law also does something in their vehicle that is equally dangerous the government has just not figured away to pass that law yet.

beyond picking my nose I cant think of anything. No but seriously you bring up a good point. To that I say if poeple didnt give the government reasons to put laws in place there wouldnt be any. People all want to say well its a revenue, I saw how else are you supposed to punish people for petty crimes, we cant throw people in jail for everything. My thing with laws is, dont break em, then you dont have to pay em. You cant argue with talking on the phone or texting is a safe practice.Originally Posted by ROADHOG

Texting yes. Ban it.
Other than looking down dialing the number and holding a cell phone-
But what's the difference in talking on a hand held phone vs. talking to your passengers in your vehicle?

Talk on the phone somtime with it in your hand vs talking to a passenger you get a little more fixed. I live in NY and hand free is the only legal way, and so are all federal installations, its only going to be a matter of time before its mandatory everywhere.Originally Posted by Downtown42

I'm not arguing the point of safety. I'm arguing the point as to what government decides is acceptable while driving and what is not. If they we're to ban Coffee and Hamburgers while driving watch the Fast Food Lobby's shut that law down. Like I said in another post I have had more Ketchup and mustard dropped on my lap while driving than dropped phone calls.
