Hitch Rattles
 

Is there any kind of sleeve or something that you can put in your hitch to keep it from rattling?

Pulling my 24 Skater with my rangerover and its deafening inside because of the slack between the receiver and the hitch.

I haven't found anything on google that would work for a 2"..

Any ideas?/

Sell the boat and the problem will disappear..... :)

Seriously, I don't know what to tell you, you could try shimming it with something to keep it from moving around.

That was the same thought I had.. But I can't think of anything that wouldn't eventually compress and come out!

and the hitchrider vice thingy that they market wont fit a RR because of clearance..

Take and drive a wood shim in either side. Easy cheap fix.

bring it to western ny for a winter that hitch will rust in so bad it will never move again!! rattle noise solved lol

Run a small bead of weld along hitch, then file/grind to fit.

But I havent had a vehicle that didnt have some play, but never thought about it to much, then again I dont know how bad yours is. I also noticed that my 23 boat and now 29ft boat there is a lot less. Smaller loads that weigh less will be a lot more squirrelly then a heavier one. Specially if you have one axle.

I would pount wood shims in, I dont know about making it permament as if something broke or needed to be changed

I never noticed it in any of my trucks, even though there was quite a bit of play.. But being that the hitch is just under the rear glass of the RR, you can hear every tiny rattle. Welding it wont work because my other trailer is a 1 7/8" for the rack thing that I use. So I'd need to be able to swap hitches without using a grinder!

I'm gonna try a square u-bolt and see if that cures it.. similar to what I posted awhile ago.. Im sure the hardware store will have something that would work.
