I have a 05 350 Dually, only used to tow and has 85K no problem miles on it, maintain in to a "T" clean turbo and flush coolant each season. I'd buy another.

Default 6.0 Powestroke

Have a 2006 F350, FX4 6.0, SRW, CC ,LB. 79 Formula has it right on. I would add from my research that the consensus is to run Motorcraft filters only. Got ours used 6 months ago with 106K with fresh fuel pump, ARP stds, and all new injectors. Switched to Rotella T6 synthetic oil and have coolant filter on hand to add. Bought a Scangage to monitor the EOT and ECT...it's critical. Getting 18.6 MPG empty running 72MPH, hand figured mileage. Exhaust getting "fixed" next week. This truck is easily capable of 20 MPG IMHO. Tuner is next. This is my first FORD in my life, (54 yrs old). I am a GM guy from day one, worked in GM dealership during and after high school. Truck rides great considering it's an F350. It rides better than any of my 4WD trucks and 4WD duallys did. Truck has load range "E" tires also so that does not help the ride. This is my wifes daily driver and she likes it too. I have towed 14,000# and it pulls great. I would encourage you to read all you can and then read some more. Then make your own decision based on your research. YMMV

Bought my 03 Excursion 6.0 new. Had 2 injectors fail and the turbo let go within the first 5K miles. Both fixed. Truck ran flawlessly for next 25K miles. Then had one EGR issue . Fixed. Ran flawessly for next 25K miles. I've had routine things go bad (alterator, and fan clutch) within the last 10K miles. Truck sits a lot (only has 77K miles on the ODO), which I think has had a bit to do with a couple of the issues. Overall, I love my Excursion, and the 6.0 motor overall I think is a great motor. I've always maintain meticulously (oil changes, all filters, other fluids, etc.). Truck looks near-new, and I routinely get compliments. Lately, I've been considering selling or trading for a new 6.7 PSD, but since no more Excursions, would be in F250 or F350. Short bed for me. Tough decision.

Anyone gone from an Excursion to a pickup? Pros/Cons?

I2D.

I had a 06 550 with a 6.0 my suggestion take the money it costs to fix it right ad it to the money for the truck and find a 650 with a cat or cummins. the 6.0 might seem like a deal. wait till you try to sell it.the resale is horrible. I go to the auction all the time, and you have to give a 6.0 away.buddy of mine has a 05 , 450 extended cab,4x4 87k miles and he cannt get 12 k for it. just my 2 cents
