Will the world ever be so cool or will Cadillac ever build a convertible again capable to pull Cigarette or Bertram boats around?
That's the definition of class from those days IMHO.
LS, those are fabulous pics.

Red stitching
Galvanized trim
Extra leather trim on handles
Unique badging
REAL suede headliner
Unique two-tone leathers
Berber floor mats.
...and a few other special items.

Sydwayz, I remember reading your thread, when you were truck shopping. I didnt realize the SouthFork was only made one year, thanks for the info. The interior is very well done, to say the least. I had an 06 Cummins before, and this drives, tows, and rides way better. Makes the longer hauls somewhat enjoyable.

I LOVE yours. I'd like a 1/2 ton as a daily driver.

It's 8". In 2019, with the interior redo, they went to the "Tesla" screen. I personally am not a fan.

Is that a long Bed?

Yes. I also have a full Carli Pintop suspension on it, as well as airbags. It tows DRASTICALLY better than stock as well. This is my toy hauler with race car inside.

Side note: the first time I towed the new-to-me TH with it, bone stock, it was a windy weekend. I was regretting not getting a dually. But I really wanted a SRW truck this go-around.
I went to a different type of WD-hitch, (Andersen); as well as the lift/wheels/tires/airbags. I also towed this trailer with my buddy's F-350 DRW, and I prefer the setup I have on the Ram over such.
Towing to the track for a weekend, I have a bed full of wheels/tires, gas cans, and spare parts. I need a long-bed. Russ (t500hps, or whatever his screenname is) and a few others who have/had go-fast boats are now racing in NASA Camaro Mustang Challenge, and it's a RIOT of a time.

I prefer long beds as well, I use my truck. All my friends say I am nuts. Its hard to find long bed SRW now a days without going dully and I DO NOT need that.

So you added the air bag, its not the factory setup?

07 lbz. Tows the mustang and the zx22 decent. Also have Firestone towing bag kit with onboard compressor.

Got Cigs 11-03-2020 10:57 AM

Sydwayz, how did the overall ride improve with the Carli suspension? Im so impressed with the ride in stock form, im afraid to even touch the suspension. Mine is a 2500 and not a 3500, so im sure the springs are little softer in the rear.

They are Firestone Airbags. If I had it do to over again, I would go with the Air Lift Ultimate bags. Firestone makes the actual bags themselves for BOTH companies, but the Air Lift Ultimate has an internal "jounce" bumper which means you can run the bags at zero pressure. If you ever had a leak, you would still have some support when suspension compresses.

Carli does have a kit that works with the factory air ride on the Ram, but you basically fool and disable it. Carli also offers their own "long travel" air bags for guys who are going to drive their truck like a 1st year Raptor. :D

OMG, it's nucking futs how much better the Carli is. Now, yes, your 2500 IS different than mine. Towing, ride, stability DRASTICALLY better though when I went with the Carli setup; to the tune of $7K in lift alone.

The truck is not my DD, but I love to drive it on nice days when not towing. I do reduce the tire pressure down to 43 on all 4 corners when not towing. When towing, I go up to the max pressures recommended for tires/truck accordingly. The Carli Pintop that I chose is actually 20% softer (rear leaf springs) than the Ram 2500's factory coils. As such, I do NEED the air bags for towing. But I didn't want it ride like a log truck ever, towing or not. I did a TON of research before I bought. I have a full on-board air setup for train horns, bags, filling tires, etc. if needed. I have to move some things around though, as I have been sponsored for the 2021 Racing season by Titan XXL Fuel Tanks, and I will be installing their 55 gallon fuel tank under my truck at some point soon. https://titanfueltanks.com/products/...lacement-tanks

I have a great relationship with my local Ram dealer. Turns out, the GM was next door neighbors with a guy I sold a 37' AT to a few years ago; so we made fast friends. The dealer totally supported my desire to lift the truck. I even signed the dealer up as a dealer for Carli lift; bought the lift through them with the truck to save on sales tax. I had another expert shop ( www.davis-offroad.com ) install the lift, and the dealer 'validated' the lift as if they did it themselves, and it does not affect my factory warranty, nor the 10 year/200K mile powertrain warranty that I got with the truck. The dealer even said I could re-gear (with FCA parts) if I wanted to, but the 3.42s currently perform great with the Cummins/AISIN combo.

Got Cigs 11-03-2020 03:55 PM

Ouch. I think I will just quit at air bags. LOL! I like that Titan fuel tank tho, that might happen in the future. Did you do any programming.? Ive read they respond well to tuning in stock form, as far as shift points and throttle response.

Your truck, yes, the 68RFE trucks are hamstrung from the factory by 100hp and 100lb/ft of torque. A programmer can tune that back out/up.
My AISIN truck is "HO" so to speak, where the Cummins is not handicapped. As such, my truck is tunable, but the AISIN transmission is not. As such, I have left it alone. As mentioned above, I have an AWESOME warranty. I will say this; the Pedal Commander is worth every penny. It feels like I added another turbo to the truck. I talked Schuble into putting one on his AEV Cummins, and he called/texted me every day for 2 weeks after he installed it raving about how much he liked the change. Banks has their own version out now too, and it's smarter and cheaper. In a nutshell, it removes the factory delay programmed into the electronic throttle by wire. And it's adjustable.

I actually wanted a 2500, but with the AISIN; all due to the ride. I even had some idiot sales guy tell me he could special order me one. Of course he was wrong. My BIL has a 6.4L Hemi 2500 with front and rear factory air ride; and just bought a giant 5th wheel camper. He's considering a diesel now, but the truck is his DD in the suburbs of DC.

They detuned that much?? Thats wild. I was looking at stuff from Calibrated Power, where they do tow and daily driver tunes in the 40-60hp range. They also reprogram the trans and supposedly their tunes will not void warranty. I got an extended warranty 7yr/ 75,000 miles from date I purchased. So, Im not doing anything crazy with it. I also do not drive it everyday, stays in the garage, and gets cleaned more, than used. :D What mud flaps do you have on your truck? I was looking at the WeatherTech flaps, but yours look a little bigger?

Sydwayz 11-03-2020 06:45 PM

You won't find that figure of hp/tq spec'd anywhere from FCA. But I talked to the dealer's diesel service tech to get those details.

I had Kickback mudflaps in those pics.
https://www.huskyliners.com/Kickback-Mud-Flaps
But I took them off the powder coating on the brackets was garbage.

I have some other set on there now, they are OK. Not as great of coverage.

I have Rek Gen flaps on my F150 DD, and another set in the garage that will go on my Ram before spring.
