Thats coming from someone with the same boat. My parents have a 330 Formula. and I have my baja 342. both fully loaded. and there is a BIG difference in weight when moving them around.. and I am using a gmc 2500 Desiel. and pull a 342 EVERYWHERE.

EDIT EDIT EDIT.... i read tundra, not tacoma. HELL NO that **** pushing past the limits of the big version the little toyota is going to HATE LIFE... let alone no control.

The idea of replacing my Taco with a Tundra did cross my mind...

My point is they keep raising the tow ratings of vehicles and its reached rediculous levels, my 1 ton dually weighed 7200lbs, a good 1600-2000lbs more than most these 1/2 tons, including yours, 4.11 gears, had the brakes to match and yet was rated to tow 3800lbs less? I had my 272 and trailer behind a chevy 1/2 ton z-71 a friend owned a few years ago, it too had a STUPID exaggerated tow limit and I think it spent more time in 2 nd gear with the 5.3 on the rev limiter than anything just pulling a headwind. Trucks are definately getting built better but there has been a ratings war too and the numbers are getting pretty stretched. A Tacoma towing 6400 lbs, thats about on par with a 1/2 ton truck towing 11,000 lbs, it will do it but sure won't do it well, Smitty

Then you go on to reply to my post where I said "For what the truck is made for, it absolutely excels in every way" with "I like TACOS, they serve there purpose"?! So what you did was pull out a thesaurus and reword my sentence? Gee, thanks! I'm sure you'll somehow see this as arguing and restate your opinion again... Are you even still reading? You seem like the kind of person that reads four words of a post before responding....

Honestly, I'm done here with this sub forum, thankfully I've decided to just leave my boat in the water so I won't have to come ask anything else in here.

Was not trying to argue with you, was being more sarcastic then anything. Not everyone gets my dry humor.

He already missed his day this year. On May 4th, my dad likes to tell people; "May the 4th be with you." Weird, I know but we still love him anyway.

OP, Have you ever towed something this heavy with any truck? From personal experience, the first time you try it with the taco will be the last time you ever have this thought again. We had a 16' tandem axle flat bed trailer to haul our old CJ7 around on. We used an 01 Grand Cherokee with a V8, tow cap. maybe 6500#. 3 trips was enough white knuckling for me to buy a suburban. Total weight for the Jeep and trailer was around 7000#.

I did go back and read and re-read the Ford f-150 tow ratings, I will give you that they have very impressive front brakes but I do see for the normal "hook your boat to the hitch and drive down the road" that the rating using just the hitch and no weight draw bars and all that they are actually rated to tow 5000 lbs with 500 tongue with a limit of 60 square feet of frontal area, not actually 11300 so although the weight distributing amount is quite high the weight carrying hitch rating is more like what I would expect, my factory rating of the dually I was referencing was 750/7500 using the hitch as weight carrying. Thats something else to keep in mind too, this Tacoma has a MAX tow rating of 6400lbs but its real world hitch rating is only 350lbs tongue and 3500 lbs trailer WITHOUT a weight distributing hitch set-up so you really wouldn't want to even hook a typical 27 ft 7000 lb single engine boat to it as it is double its factory ratings, Smitty

I got ya, and I am not trying to start a dually vs half ton war, and a tacoma in my mind is only good for jet skis and utility trailers. But my point being is the half tons have come a long way. The engines are more powerful than heavy duty truck engines were 15 years ago.

its not pulling it, its stopping it.

and the little toyota is NOT GOING to like it. a tundra would not like it. its not a light boat.

My 2500 desiel dont like it. haha will do it, and does but it dont like it. haha
