This says the fluid has a shelf life of at least year. I think you'll be fine

Trying to come up with a value that is fair but I cant find anything to compare it to mileage or option wise. I need to clean it up for sale pics to show how nice it is but here are a few to give you an idea. 1 thing I did do is change out all exposed fasteners that rust from GM to stainless and sprayed/brushed frame saver on and in undercarriage using over a gallon in rocker panels alone that were known problem areas.

Where I think your going to be let down is in the milage. They do pretty good empty, but when you put a load like that with all that wind resistance they go down hill very fast.. I have a 2011 duramax that I tow a 41' cyclone toyhauler with. I never see better than 8, even if I set the cruise on 78-80. If I pull faster, which it will do with ease, it will drop to 6-7 pretty quickly. I even put a chip and urea delete on it for a while whch picked it up to 9ish driving pretty fast. But it ended up getting exhaust residue all over that side of the trailer so it wasn't worth it to me. I know plenty of people with these trucks pulling trailers every weekend and all the ones I trust to tell the truth are getting about the this same mileage.
Not trying to be negative, as I love this truck and would never want to get rid of it. Just letting you know what to expect from someone who does it almost weekly.

Thanks for the reply, it was what I was looking for as a response. I save my speed for the water and rarely speed on the road (since I got away from the crotch rockets and moved to HD). I will be towing a 41' Forest River toyhauler with 3 slide outs and a 50' custom 5th wheel with 39 Ocean Express (tank), pulling either one I will never take them over 70, more like 60-65 so I should see around 10-11 towing with the new truck.

WOW, at least you gave it a couple days to make a decision! :)

I would have said stay with the 8.1. $30K would have bought a crap load of gas. Considering your per 100 mile fuel cost would be

8.1: 100 miles at 7mpg = 14.2 x 3.50 or $49.7 fuel costs
6.6: 100 miles at 11mpg = 9.1 x 4.00 or $36.4 fuel costs
$0.135 per mile more fuel cost

If the new truck cost $30K more than your old one then you'll need to drive nearly 225,000 miles to "break even" with the fuel savings. Now, sometimes we just want a shiny/new truck........fuel cost just helps us justify what we want! :)

or more POWER :`}

I am sure you'll be happy with it. They are great trucks and really do tow better. Also speed does play a pretty big role in the fuel mileage.

My dually is by far the most comfortable truck I've ever ridden in. Bad assness of a dually and rides like a luxury car. Plus 765 ft/lb of torque. Gotta love that fact!

Congrats on the new truck Brian. The new trucks sure came a long way in the last decade.

You guys need to shuddup! :D Between all these "I got a new badass 2015 truck" posts, my buddy just bringing home a 2014 PSD, and the fact that I am MB shopping at the moment; I am seriously afraid that a new diesel truck is going to end up in my barn! :drink:

MILD THUNDER 07-16-2014 07:34 PM

These new trucks ride like town cars......so much power.....All the interior gizmos.....man, air conditioned seats, more leg room for your legs... Plus the incentives ......:cartman:
