Thanks, burning up the transmission on our 2010 Yukon is what I am worried about, I rack store the boat so I've only pulled it 5-6 times last year, put it in/out once and a couple 5-10 mile trips.

I am not stuck on these two at all, I may get a lot better use out of a PU, but it seems like you can find nicer older Burbs that have not been used as work trucks just haulers.

The 99 has the 4L80 transmission , not sure on the rear end, he said it's rated for 10K, the owner just got a 2013 2500 Burb so I may offer $3500 or so and see where he is at, day after Christmas may be a good time to deal!

Russ, I remember that crash, scary stuff,

If your 32 is foam cored like the 35 I would guess it weighs less than 6000lbs. Hell you may be under 7000 on the trailer. That would put you in half ton range. I'm betting most people used a 2500 for work or towing at some point. The 1500s on the other hand were mostly grocery getters, they are cheaper too.

I have a '02 Yukon XL 2500. It has the 8.1 in it. Bought it from a friend 5 years ago with 55,000 miles. Now, 110,000. Love it. Boatless now but would jerk my 31 ft boat out of the water with no problem. Never towed with it but wouldn't of been a problem. Downside was the 11 mpg but with the 38 gallon tank make fuel stops less. Wife has the 03 Burban with 5.3, around 175,000 miles. Been a great vehicle too although she hasn't taken great care of it.

You may be right, the boat is all composite, I have a test from powerboat mag from 99 and they said it was 6,000 lbs, but I have the original brochure and it says Dry weight of 3800 lbs so maybe I am at about 5K with engines and 5500 loaded with gear? That still puts me about 8K which is a lot for a Yukon. I should stop by a scale next time I'm pulling it around. The Yukon actually does pull it OK for short distances but the short wheelbase is a little bit of an issue, I put RS 5000 shocks on it and that helped tremendously.

I will cut a deal on the 8.1L Silverado I just put in the OSO classifieds. I'm just up the road a piece.

i beg to differ..

if you dont want troubles buy a 1995 and down,,the 96 and newer is a pile of junk..(jk) im only saying this because mt quoat...thay are all good from 92 to 99 and dont over look the 6.5 dieael version..its really not a bad motor and with a little work it will run circles around the 454..my friend has 10 of them and all his trucke have over 200 k + on them..i have 479 k on my suburban and just opened up the engine to do its first timing chain..

Drive the 2003 then drive the 1999,you will find that the 1999 has more room inside of it..way more room! the 454 will run circles around the 6.0..that year in that truck was a pooch, they could barely pull its self out of its own way with out flooring it..i owned one with the 8.1 foe a few months,,decided i liked my 92 better and sold it to a friend of mine..i can put a sheet of plywood in the back of my 92 and close the doors,my 04 i could not..

Ox66 are 2 strokes? If so that should be a pretty light rig.
