I have the first year duramax with Allison trans. It's a 2001. I have 120k on the clock. That's 14 years or better I have been pulling boats 20' bike trailers filled with either street bikes or dirt bikes and snow plowing. Never...... Never had a problem with motor or trans. Changed ball joints ( snow plowing) and wheel bearings ( snow plowing) also ran the edge chip for 80k miles set on five the whole time. This truck owes me nothing. And I highly recommend this set up

That is awesome. I'm surprised you never had an issues with the injectors. Almost all LB7's had to have the injectors replaced.

i just boaught my boy a 2008 6.4 witch i had previously owned an 08 witch i had awsom luck with .. . my salesman that ive done buisness for 7 years in utah . says the 6.7 has has very good sucess . tourque shift trans ..combo . i owned a 2013 6.7 and the truck was awsom .. turned the truck in on a new 2015 denali hd duramax /allison . truck is awsom too .. although only have 4200 miles on it ... but will say right now the ford would run circles around the d max in power .. its just the way it is .. not saying anything bad about the d max .. sales man says he sees 100s of 6.7 now in trade with 200 k on them running awsom ,, and selling .. i also believe the 6.7 was introduced in 2011 not 2010 right .. i believe 2010 was the last year of the 6.4 .. witch was a great engine as long as you deleted it .. frikken power house .. spartan tuned 6.4 with 210 tow tune watch out corvettes .. )

765K miles on my Allison Tranny, all I have is a Trans Jr Shift kit in it, had to change the pressure regulator in it about 50K miles ago but other than that this tranny is a beast!!! I haul boats up to 20K lbs with this truck with no issues and I do it for a living with this truck and I have 2 more with the same setup, IMHO it is the best out there with a good EFI program on the truck she is great...

, I have owned a Ford 6.0 and it ruined my opinion of Fords, my mechanic who used to work on that truck all the time had a new 6.7 Ford and wanted me to test it out so I did, it drove great but longevity is the key and he only had 50K miles on it... 10K miles later he called me and told me that it shot an injector out due to some bad or wrong size dies for the hold downs.... I did hear that the Rams are going to be putting the Allison tranny in them soon.

You wanted unbiased opinions? The Ford guys will tell you to buy a Ford. The Chevy guys will tell you to buy a Chevy. The Dodge guys will tell you to buy a Dodge. All three manufacturers have made some great trucks. All three manufacturers have made some turds. The newer trucks from all three manufacturers are general much better than their older trucks. None of the manufacturers have ever made - nor will ever make - a perfect truck for everyone.

There, I think that pretty well handles it. Any other questions?

From what I have gathered of all the Big 3 diesels, you cant go wrong with either after the 2010 model year. Its just what you prefer.

I'm a Toyota man. I worked at a diesel shop for years. I would have to say Ford #1 Dodge#2 Chevy#3 and Toyota is 10 times what any of the 3 could ever dream of being.
