All true.
Note the factory hitch is actually upside down in that picture. The two holes around the square receiver actually bolt to the bottom of the bumper for aft most support, which is ridiculous when you think about it.

The hitch on my 2015 2500 HD seems much better than other factory hitches. I will take a look under the bumper to see what it really looks like. On my 2004 Avalanche it was the same POS with the tube along the back. Made by Valley it was the flexible flyer.

Well I looked at the OEM hitch on my 2015 Duramax and it is a lot beefier than I thought. It has a large (about 3.5 inch) tube across the back- substantial side plates and 5 BIG bolts attachments on each side that are spaced out. I feel much better now having looked at the OEM hitch, it's up to the task.
