Yep! Wally is dead on. I put a Titan tank in my Dodge dually and can pull a boat 8-10 hours depending on the conditions.
Not difficult to do and I got to use the stock sender. Not inexpensive, but will put one in my next truck if I ever wear this one out.

In reference to above question, no they are not stock wheels. Unfortunately GM thought alcoas were cool enough to put on a Denali.... not even close. It looked like a work truck so I ordered 20"s and slapped some new Michelin Defenders on there. More time to clean but, brings the truck to different level. I was going to go 22s but between the weight of the truck, the fact I tow distance I was concerned about the availability of tires if something were to happen. Kinda took the "grown up" choice there.
As far as widths in stations I have been up and down 95 with this boat over the years and had some tight areas but thats the fun of the trip. I just get concerned about the truck stops diesel because I do not recognize the brands and if the fuel is on par with what I have been putting in her lately. I mean with my 1500 D I knew if I put Shell, Sunoco, BP, Mobil, Exxon 93oct I was safe for the most part. Diesel is very vague and then you add all the truck stops which are interesting to judge if they are good or not.
I will stick with the plan I use to on my gasser trips and when I hit a 1/4 I usually scout the next biggest highway town to do a stop.
That app definitely looks handy so I will look into utilizing it. I also think there is somewhere in the GMC Intellilink that does offers something similar.
I am curious from my mid-9s MPG with the 6.2 what this Dmax will do.
Here's a pic of the 14 when I towed down last time with my old truck. My buddy Splitdecision is behind me with his old 5.3 1500 and 292. He also stepped his game up to a 2500 D with a Dmax.

Looking back at old pics....
Fayetteville hogging up a Shell

Wilmington, De with ice on the bow

Scrub down status in Englewood, Fl
Was excited to pull up and the car wash raised the roofs so my big girl can actually fit!

That looks like a good app to have. Thanks!
I use an app on my phone called Fuelbook. It's designed for truckers, and has a diesel pricing section for the truck-friendly stations in your area, or in any state you inquire about. (Keep in mind for a OTR trucker, their area is quite big.) Have found this to be very helpful getting better prices here in the mid-west. Just pulled it up, and in about a 50 mile radius of me the diesel prices vary 40cents a gallon.
Also second buying your diesel at stations that move a lot of diesel. That may not just be an OTR truck stop, but one that caters to work trucks and mid-duty, or in farm country one that is popular with farm trucks, or in WY any of them.

You can also try GasBuddy. You can search for types of gas, grades and switch it to a map view that shows where the stations are along your route. I use it all the time when traveling to determine where to get the best prices on diesel. Ive never noticed any performance differences in getting diesel at truck stops vs smaller stations. besides, any brand/station can get a batch of bad fuel delivered.

Thanks.
I will download one of the apps recommended above and just go about my business like i normally did with the gasser. I also am bringing a few gallons of AC Delco DEF.... never know. Since I have owned it, i already went through 7 gallons but I think my dealer dropped the ball and did not top it off on delivery.

I've used the Gasbuddy app for years now, its been a lifesaver sometimes when it seems like the next gas station will never come lol.
For towing, just look for the major truck stops, Pilot, Flying J, T&A, etc. You know those places have enough room to maneuver your rig around. What I found is, at a lot of these, theres a line for the big rig pumps, but they sell diesel at the car pumps and there was always plenty of room to get my boat and truck in and out of the car pumps. I'm ~54' truck and trailer.
Good luck with your trip and I bet as soon as you tow with that diesel dually, you'll never tow with a gas truck again!
