Granted, that was back in 2007 but I'd prefer a 3/4 ton so with the 8K+ lbs and the family in the truck plus a loaded bed for vacation, it's still plenty of truck.

Congrats on the new truck. Love the white!

RollWithIt has it right. Just like with horsepower, More truck is better than not quite enough!

So my Brother in law the dealer just traded another dealer for a blk 2016 Silverado 2500 LT1. Very basic truck but it has the Duramax. So now I'm deciding if I want to go with the base model and add some customization, or wait and find a better equipped truck. Possibly a slightly used one. Yup, I'm with you guys 100% on buying more truck. Like I said, my rig was 8500 lbs on the steel trailer which I just swapped out for a a new aluminum trailer. So now I'm at 8100 lbs on the CAT scale. But when you load the truck down with vacation gear and 4 people, it's nice to have that torque of the diesel and the extra size and weight of the 3/4 ton truck to stop the rig!

I liked the fact that this truck already had many of the options I added on my older truck and then some. Yes, you can add aftermarket items/options but sometimes it is easier and cheaper to simply buy a vehicle with them already there. But, I you are somebody who enjoys the art of customization, then the lower level truck is the way to go and then customize it to how you want.

Factory equipped truck has warranty, no hassles with aftermarket vendors or installers, perceived value when you trade or sell and more snob appeal at the ramp or marina if you are a shallow, materialistic poop like me!

Roll,Congratulations on the new Ram, sure is pretty truck, of course I'm a little biased. How do you like the engine brake feature? I use mine all the time. The new interiors are really nice. And I really like my factory rear air suspension also. Just added custom mud flaps to mine

I just got myself a 2016 Silverado 2500 Duramax. The incentives on the remaining 2016 inventory made it a hard one to pass up! Close to 10K off the sticker. With the new L5P Duramax coming in 2017, the 16's are a nice deal.

Congrats on the new truck MonkeySea2. Like I said before, the chevy we looked at was very nice but didnt have the diesel. Im sure you will really enjoy the new truck.
Dean, I dont really use the exhaust brake too much around town. Even when turned on I rarely get up enough RPMs to get it to kick in while driving. I know it will be really appreciated once I tow the boat with it or haul a load. |
Thanks! I too will be anxious to test my exhaust brake when I tow. Lots of cool technology on the new truck. Glad I purchased the extended warranty!!
