My silverado or sierra are great! Nobody complains about the dually even not loaded!
2017 was a litlle update and not running out of power even with my 20k pounds in the back! Tows like there is nothing behind!

how about air bags for your dodge? I just bought some for mine but haven’t installed them yet. I had a 2012 F350 and got a 2020 a few months ago. I think my 12 rode better and I never had any engine issues. Something changed in the rear on the new ones and I don’t like it, hence why I’m putting air bags on it. I think they tried to soften the ride with the new suspension but I prefer the way my 12 rode.

I was looking at 2016-2017's and instead bought a new leftover 2019 2500hd last Feb. 2017+ was when the Duramax got about a 150lbs more torque to 910ft lbs. The used prices were nuts and my 2019 was only about 10% more with full warranties. Chevy also improved the suspension in 2019.

I have a 2016 Dually, same issue. No one wants to ride in the back for long hauls. So no improvement for you there.

I loved all my GMC trucks over the years however this 21 I have now is the smoothest ride empty or loaded I have ever owned. The weight I am pulling regularly pushes close to GVCWR. Also, the 10 speed Allison vs the previous 6 speed is very much appreciated when towing. I didn’t think the trans change would matter.... it does.

I was told from a GM tech stay away from 2017-2019 due to machining issues with the engine...but yes used prices are definitely up there . $50k for a truck with 80k + seems nuts .
I think I should be able to get $30K out of my 2012 RAM .

Sorry, GMC, HA! (in reference about your move to a GMC) Harsh ride in back unloaded, bouncy when towing the boat. Makes for an uneasy stomach on the 8hour ride back from Nashville!!!

Dan, go with the Carli Suspension full upgrade. You don't have to make the truck sky high either. Mine is about a 3" lift with 35.5" OD tires.

i am towing 12-13K lbs. with a fully loaded bed as well when I go to the racetrack. I have the full Carli Pintop Suspension; and it's DRAMATICALLY better. Ride, stability towing and not, were HUGE improvements. I bought the truck just for towing my race car; but I now look for occasions to drive it vs. my DD F150. You will have to add airbags to get your full towing/hauling capacity back since the Carli leaf springs are actually slightly softer than a 2500's coil springs overall. But even so, towing is a pleasure.

I know you have a DRW whereas mine is a SRW. But even the dually guys on the Carli Owners Page on FB rave about the improvements.

I did EXTENSIVE research on ride before I ordered my truck. After having a 2000 F350 with leaf springs on 4 corners, AND 19.5" commercial wheels and tires; ride was a HUGE concern when I was buying a new truck. I drove it for a year stock before installing the Carli kit, even though I had the kit in the garage since the month I took delivery of the truck. We (my 4WD shop) wanted to make sure my truck didn't have any factory issues (lemon) before I invested in the install.

What's your tongue weight?
Didn't you have a thread on here about having low tongue weight and the combo being squirrelly until you got that truck?
I'd consider your boat a load as far as pulling, but depending on the weight balance of the trailer and the resultant tongue weight.
With low tongue weight, I'm of the opinion there is no where near enough of a "load" to make a one ton ride smooth.
And sometimes even makes matters worse, it causes the combo to "buck".

Like Griff said, be aware and research the CP4 ordeal. Buddy just got bit by that on his 2015 with 95K miles.
