Diesel Shortage Coming........

https://www.cbs17.com/news/north-car...ing-nc-and-sc/

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported this week the third lowest stocks on hand in the last five years of diesel fuel for the lower Atlantic area, which includes Virginia, North and South Carolina and Georgia.

I don't ever pay attention to process but I noticed the other day that the difference between gas and diesel is obscene - just under $2.00 a gallon difference. Unbelievable.....

If we run out of diesel I might be forced to drive the C8! That would be AWESOME!!!

$2 a gallon more is crazy especially if you haul for a living in a truck that gets single digit MPG.

I commute 135 miles daily in a C5 Z06. Avg 24 mpg / Max 28 mpg. I was considering picking up a TDI (diesel) VW to use for commuting but after doing the math, at current diesel fuel prices, I'd actually be spending more money to commute with the VW!

Doc,
The FL Gas Tax holiday, (10/1-31/2022), at a savings of 0.25.3/gallon, that we have been enjoying, doesn't apply to diesel, I don't know if you calculated that in....

Good point buddy. Forgot about that. At any rate, at best it would be a break even and that's not even taking into account insurance on an extra vehicle, maintenance/repairs, parking, and the purchase price.

So I'll keep racking up the miles on the Z until I'm either too crippled to comfortably do so, or it gets totalled by a texting driver.

Is that local? Background looks like FL. I just got back from working out west where it’s usually close to a buck higher than FL. Last I noticed was 5.35$ but going up steadily.

I may be wrong as my memory isnt what it once was but wasnt diesel less than gas back before the Obama era price increase? seems that was when diesel jumped up in price above gas and it has been that way since.

hoodoo 10-30-2022 09:04 AM

Years ago diesel was about half the cost of gas
