I too am looking, for a new vehicle. I have a 2013 Yukon XL with about 160, 000 miles. Besides an everyday driver, I haul my 29 foot Velocity VR 1. I also transport two or three Irish Wolfhounds to dog shows Vet etc. A Suburban oy Yukon XL sized vehicle is ideal for me. Trying to decide if I want the Duramax Diesel. Does anyone have experience with a Yukon or Burban with the Duramax.

I ordered a new Suburban RST Diesel and it's been built, just waiting on a delivery date. I'll report back.
Phil I hope to be test driving a plain Jane burban with the Duramax next week. Padraig |
Finally got the truck a number of months ago.
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...858ba52eeb.jpg I haven't towed with it yet but straight highway driving almost 300 miles loaded for a family ski trip it got 29 mpg (8.0L per 100km). Very happy with that. |
Thats impressive.

Hey, Phil, I bought the 2023 Burb, that I test drove last fall. Has the Duramax and max tow package. I love it Not towing I have gotten as much as 31 mpg but 28 on a trip is typical. It gets much better mpg at 70 then 80 +. It does a great job towing the Velocity VR 1. Hauled it to Buffalo to be winterized then back. about 80 miles one way. If I remember correctly the mpg was a tad over 18.

I picked up one of these in December and recently purchased a topper form ARE. I haven't towed the boat with it yet but I like it.

My next personal truck will be a 2500 6.6gas/10spd. The downsides to owning a 3/4 truck have become nil for my use Yup. The buddy of mine that has the 2500/6.6/Allison loves his. He told me the 5100lb boat/trailer isn't even back there when he's towing it. Towing from Dayton to Cumberland, he barely exceeds 2K RPM. I really like my 1500/6.2/10sp (not the Allison). It tows our 7Klb boat/trailer WAY better than the Avalanche did. I will rarely exceed 2500RPM, except when trying to take advantage of the passing lanes on 461 between I-75 and 80, headed to Cumberland, and even then, it's only to about 3K RPM. Net aggregate milage over the last 400mi is almost 21MPG, which ain't bad considering the vast majority of the driving I do is in town. Thanks. Brad. |
