Default Trailer repair, time for a new axle?

so I got brought the boat home for some pre season maintenance and when I was backing it into the driveway the wheel hub broke off the axle. Unfortunately I don’t have much of a choice but to make a hard cut into it. In hindsight I should have sprayed down some water………. Anyways what’s the repair options here? Weld on a new hub or replace the whole axle.

From the photos...it appears the cast spindle wasn't properly welded to the axle tube.

This could be lined up and re-welded, but maybe easier and cheaper to just replace it.

There are places that repair axles.

You would be surprised how inexpensive those axles are. I would definitely replace.

These are just an examples of 3500 lbs, axles which is what it looks like you have. You will have to measure to spec the right width.
You may have a bit better luck with shipping via ordering from a local trailer shop that regularly gets truck shipments. Yes, they will mark the axle sale price up, but it MAY be less than shipping.

I see you are in West Michigan. Look up Johnson's surplus. Close to White Pigeon on rte 12 in Indiana. They have tons of axles.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking a new axle would be the way to go, outside a new trailer 🤣.

When I bought my boat the trailer brakes didn't work and i bought fully assembled backing plates from Parker. They stock a lot of trailer stuff. Pricing was good plus you get to put hands on the parts unlike the Internet purchase. Use Waze to drive to Parker Auto Parts and Repair - Burton: https://waze.com/ul/hdpeh4nv9n

That looks like a 29 power quest so Integrity built that trailer. Try them or Mid west for a repair< they are also on M104.
