What I learned was, every steep ramp with torsion axles grossly overloads the front axle. Almost every steep ramp will hang the back 2 axles, then the weight and fulcrum coming up and out just makes the axle give up.
My new trailer is on springs and equalizers. Spreads the load properly.

my car trailer has 12,000 lbs of suspension under it. everyone thinks it is nuts but I did once have to move 16,000 lbs a short way and it towed perfect plus I know no car will ever bother it. probably overkill but the springs and axles were free so that's what it ended up being.

Guys,

Back on its feet. I made a set of adapter sleeves for my old Bearing Buddies. There were adapter sleeves on the old hubs, but the new hubs have a larger grease cap ID, so they wouldn’t work. These work perfect. And I really like the snap-in caps rather than the rubber “bras” that are such a PITA to get on right.
Went and retrieved the boat from the marina. Stopped for lunch on the way to the marina (no boat) and checked the hubs for heat. Warm to the touch. Pulled off half way back to the shop and checked again. A little warmer, but we could leave our hands on them indefinitely. Checked at the shop, after a short stint on the highway. A little warmer yet, but still not so warm as to not be able to leave our hands on them. No grease on the side of the boat or visible on the underside of the fenders. I think we’re good. Time will tell on the tire wear, but the spindles triangulated out perfectly after locking them down on the springs.
Thanks. Brad.
