Now that you brought up chips/programmers...
I have an '04 D Max Allison with the LLY engine.. It just turned over 5,000 miles.
I want to do a chip, like the Edge.
What is GMs point on warranty if they find that I have a aftermarket chip in the truck???
I'd rather leave it stock if there is a real issue...
The Hypertech programmer lets you put the stock setings back into the computer, and no mods are actually attached to the truck...
Looking for your thoughts...
I have pulled with them all... When it came time for me to buy my personal truck.... D Max...
Ford seemed to get a bit better fuel milage, but their engine and trans reliability is a factor. The Dodge is a nice truck, but it's still a Dodge.. (Great engine though)

Tim G., if your going to upgrade , you need to do an exhaust as well ..... I have seen the LLY motor with EGR problems when adding "chips". I have one right now that we left AT THE CHEVY DEALER for 2 weeks WITH the edge system on it ,for them to figure it out . They couldn't ..... they also had no problem with the mods being on it .
I do think I figured it out though ... Have to do a little more testing to make sure .
ALL MODS ARE A "GRAY AREA" with the dealers . just depends how yours feels . Most dealers install them ! Joe

Next year ford will have Cummins power according to my buddy with 2 dealerships, that will help. GLH you can call me if you want, I towed alot with my 2002 and my 2004 has the newest Duramax and it is even better. If you buy used buy a late 2002 and you will skip the injector problems. My buddy has a 2001 4x4 crwecab short box with 100,000 miles and she is still pulling awsome, he just came back from the keys. His injectors went out on him as we went to the Ozarks in 2003, we ran it with basiclly no oil pressure for the last 200 miles and dropped the boat in and the truck off at a dealership and they flushed the motor a couple of times, changed the 2 bad injectors, changed the oil one more time and she is running as sweet as new today. GLH hope the Tiger is doing well, I'll be down for the spring run, hope to see ya then. Steve

Also thhere has been a rumor that just won't die, that Ford owns part of Cummins.
I don't know that DaimlerChyrsler would have up'd an agreement with Cummins that would allow a relationship with Ford in the same market. The relationship with Navistar certainly hasn't been problem free but thee is a rumor that a V6 diesel is back on the drawing board and rumors are out there that it may be with Cummins and not Nav this time. The other rumor is the 6.4 PSD for the re-tooled Superduty for 2007. Who's making that one? COuld that be a Cummins deal???? Who knows.
Who knows, Ford has relationships with others, like Cat but with their medium duty trucks.
Also, I've read in a couple of places, talk of diesel fuel cost continuing to rise which could have a huge impact on the light duty (our trucks) diesel truck market.

He has never had a problem as for the rigs running, of course if the DOT would sample his fuel he'd be in a world of sh!t but how often are private individuals trucks fuel sampled also Brett might want to chime in as to the legality of them invading your privacy by sampling your fuel.
Any of you diesel doctors heard of this and would it work here?
God knows heating oil is cheaper than $2.29 a Gallon.
