Not a valid comparison :( You are comparing a 6-cyl with a V-8. Components have to be larger to handle the higher stresses the longer stroke and bore, require to get the same displace with 2 fewer cylinders, put on the rotating group. :D Sure looks convincing though doesn't it. :drink: |
Re: Pull Rig Poll
If your going to drive it at all other than working/towing, get the GM. Nicest interior, D-Max most fun to rod around the city, Allison is awesome, and yes lowest step in height.
Factor in how quiet it is also. When mine is warm and idling from 10' away it's quiet like a gasser, flat out amazing. Quiet going down the road also. It rattles some when the pilot injection shuts off at 2500RPM. Though if your hearing that, you've got your foot in it pretty good and begin to listen for it. :D It's just the best combo for an "enjoy it all the time" vehicle of this nature. I am very, very impressed so far with my 04.5 LLY Crew. |

Re: Pull Rig Poll
Well guys, I just took delivery of my 05 Duramax crew cab last night, and got a total of 3 hours on it before the rear main seal puked. 1 week for parts, 1 week to replace. So, now i'll be lucky to have it by Christmas. O, and the beauty of having some kid pulling the tranny out, and tearing into the engine on my BRAND new expensive truck. ugh.......
needless to say, i'm sick... it was sooooooooo nice on the trip home, thought I was really going to like it. Now i'm bout ready to tell them to keep it... :( |
Re: Pull Rig Poll
Well, if you had an '03 or early '04 6.0 Ford you could have played than game every other week until they finally bought it back from you.
D-max troubles are an exeption not the rule. I did alot of intense research myself before I got one. I gave mine an easy 1000 miles...then changes all the fluids and filters. Been heavy footed with it ever since...and it runs better every day! I've towed my 353 locally and a 35 fountain 1000 miles. h2o, 2nd gen D-Max (Jan '04 and later build/ code LLY) Crew Cab. |

As far as the medium class, I said Detroit isn't in the running. My guess would put it between Cat, Isuzu and International, probably with Isuzu leading the game. |
Re: Pull Rig Poll
Beat the He!! out of my Cummins on a daily basis since day 1 for 40k miles and not one problem to date :D
Have towed just about every thing from a 16' Donzi to a 42' OL and no trouble at all in any way.... |

I reallllly love my Duramax now!
Got my new work truck today.. F250 4x4. 5.4 Gas..9200GVW It's an absolute friggin DOG. I know what it is, but I expected it to have more.. Power resembles that of an electric golf cart. Other than that, it's a very nice truck. The Chevy chassis handles the weight much better (Turns, stops, stability) Ford has the edge with turning circle... |
