"Can't we all just get allong" I'm taking a guess here, would you be Steve that bought Bill's / Hyper's 280 from me after I took it in trade on the 32 ? Anyway, I don't think "other brand" owners hate Velocities, I had mine for a long time before selling it to Bill and had a lot of fun with it. The soggy transom and drive issues were just more than I was willing to deal with in terms of both time and dollars, and after eight seasons I was ready to move on. And though I was ready to see it go away, I was 100% honest with Bill in regard to the issues, he no doubt will vouch for that. And, if you are the Steve I think you are, you also should vouch for the fact that I'm am a pretty straight up individual, and did all that I could to help you into that 280, at a pretty fair price as well. I find it odd that some here find fault with any that leave the fold for another brand, and become so defensive when they/we state the reasons why. The drive issues had nothing to do with Velocity, the soggy transom was definetly a Velocity issue, one that in "My" mind there was no reasonable excuse for. In "My" mind how would I purchase another one and be confident that it would not suffer from the same issue, or some other issue that would compromise the the boat I had "My" hard earned money invested in. Why would some take issue with the fact that I made what "I" consider to be the better choice for "Me". Way too defensive in "My" opinion. This deal is nothing more than the Chevy vs. Ford thing, buy what you like, what you can afford to own and run, and realize that everyone else has the same right to make that choice as well. My choice was a Fountain, find fault with that if you wish, but it was "My" choice to make, and for "Me" it has been the right choice, and will most likely be the next choice as well. No issues, nothing but wax it, run it, and enjoy it. And is that not what we spend all this money for ? Oh Thong, so far I've not met up with that equal sized and powered Velocity, so I don't really know how that would feel. Maybe some day, but not yet. |
Re: Honest Opinions Needed
Raggededge,
I'd like to point out a few things regarding the way people have been treating you in the velocity forum. You seem to have multiple personalities when you post. One day you come in here and start bashing velocities on threads that aren't about bashing. You call owners out in public on things like boat names and finances. Then, you come in and make a semi-rational post like the one above and expect to be taken seriously and respectfully. "Whoa is me, everyone is picking on me just because I don't own a velocity anymore and because i'm critical of the brand." I believe we are all critical of the brand, as we would be about any brand. No one has produced the perfect boat yet, or we'd all own the same one. I honestly don't care what kind of boat people own, everyone purchases their boat for their own reasons. But I don't go into their forum and start attacking them or the brand. I have heard you come into this forum on a weekly basis and rant about the same crap. We got the message. Its the same people everyday who read this forum. No need to repeat yourself every week. If you post rationally, on new information you may eventually earn some respect from the others in this forum to the point where they may take you seriously on occasion. Until then, why don't you stick to the fountain forum or make an effort in this forum to add value instead of instigating people. r, Lance |
Re: Honest Opinions Needed
Hey Guys
This post has generated some very valid information in regards to changes and or options you'd like to see in the Velocity line, let's keep going in that direction. I spoke to David yesterday at Velocity and he is now following the thread, as GM at Velocity he is very interested in what we have to say. Paul |

Your right i was giving you to much credit.I shouldn't put you in the same class as VELOCITY. Being a fountain owner you would have trouble keeping up with one of these........ |

Peter your right it's me.
I agree you did call out the issues and gave me a good deal on the 280. back to topic...Since the factory is listening.....Can you provide the info on the alledged retirement of the 280? I love the hull and I don't think the 290 is a comperable repleacement. power for power, in my experience, the 280 perfomrms better. The VR-1 is more or less a sitdown and in a different class. Pound for pound there is not a 26' hull that compairs. Make the updates that will need to be done for the 260 anyway and keep it availibe my opinion |

You got a nice clean boat, Bill did a good job taking care of it and you own it right. Worked out well for all of us. Most of the time I would consider myself to be only very disappointed in finding the water issue with the transom, but will admit that at times I do get a little more upset over that, it was a large purchase to make, as are all of these toys. Manufacturers do need to look to their current owners for the direction in which they need to take their product, and to change things their buyers have a problem with. For any company the repeat buyer is one of their biggest assets. And I agree with you on the 280, it's been the best of the line and most popular since it was introduced. |
Re: Honest Opinions Needed
Yes Peter we did disguess the boat very much so and it was exactly what you said, now if I can get Steve to fix it for free that would be even better
Now on a more seriousnote,I also would like to see Velocity put some serious power in a 41 with #6 Drives and not all of the cheese cake that have been in his last several projects as well as lay it up with the lightest and new space age materials and lets see what the numbers it will put on the board,I think that alot of people would be amazed.I know Mark at Hutchinsons has one but from what I have heard it has a very heavy Lay up and a full heavy interior, not that I would not want it for myself but it runs big numbers as it sits.I just think if Steve wants to get some serious attention he needs to put himself in the Medias face with a light bad ass HOT ROD. I also agree with the 280 as being probably one of if not the best all around bang for the buck.Dont get rid of it,great boats. As far as how people are treated I think sometimes people need to have thicker skin and laugh a little more except when it comes to Mr Thorough, now he is just a PERSON WHO RUBS ALOT OF PEOPLE WRONG.As for Thong Boy,he is out of control especially with his gas can antics :D |
