Velocity Owners News

Did you know that if you are a Velocity owner, that there’s better then a 75% chance you live in one of the below states. That’s right, the top 10 Velocity states comprise over 75% of all owners on company record. If you slice it down to the top 5 states, over 55% of the owners reside there. So if you want to be where the Velocities are - you simply have to pull up stakes and move to one of these states! I’ll let you know if I’m successful in getting my employer to give me a relocation package to Florida! On second thought, my odds are better playing the Power Ball!

1. Florida
2. New York
3. Maryland
4. Virginia
5. Pennsylvania
6. Michigan
7. California
8. North Carolina
9. New Jersey
10. Washington

So what’s the best way to meet fellow owners? Ten years ago we could have published and circulated an Owners’ Directory but today with identity fraud rampant and information privacy a real concern, this just isn’t possible. Fortunately in the last ten years, internet message boards have become firmly established and do a great job connecting people. If it’s practical, an even better way is to attend an event on the forthcoming 2008 Velocity Schedule. What’s practical however, is ultimately determined by specific owner demographics.
An owner’s residence certainly influences attendance at a Velocity Owners function or other Poker Run. It’s easy to understand that the closer the event, the more likely the owner is to attend. Furthermore, the more owners in an event area, the more Velocity Owner attendees there’ll be. While you can always count on perhaps a handful of dedicated road warriors to trail hundreds of miles to an event - you definitely need a strong local contingent of owners to make for a large, successful gathering. Just like in real estate - location is everything. A popular Poker Run or Fun Run that’s located in a “Velocity Owner Hot Zone” which happens to be adjacent to another Hot Zone, will especially draw Velocities. The Jacksonville (FL) Fire Fighter’s Run is just about ideal as it’s in Florida (the number 1 state) and in “trailer range” of North Carolina and Virginia. For the more southern Florida owners, the Sarasota Poker Run is a perennial favorite. Velocity Fest’s traditional home on the Chesapeake Bay leverages the large Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey base of owners. Although North Carolina doesn’t have the sheer number of owners that other locations have - it has a very well organized core of owners and a truly unique Poker Run venue that makes the trailer trip worthwhile for out-of-state’rs. You can count on any of these events to have a large representation of Velocity Powerboats. What about New York State outside of NYC? Are there any favorite Poker Runs or other gatherings that numerous New York State Velocity owners like to attend? Are there any on the Finger Lakes, the upper Hudson or perhaps in the Thousand Islands area? Please let me know and I’ll propose them for the 2008 Velocity Event Schedule.

Lastly, check out the pictures of the new and very innovative, 30’ Velocity SUB that I mentioned in my last correspondence. Please let the factory folks know what you think.

Hey all i want to know is where is the next V-Fest

007joe 11-08-2007 05:29 PM

I Own A Velocity And Before Purchasing (and During Ownership) The Factory Has Been Super Helpful.... Kenny Was Instrumental In Me Buying My Boat And Was As Helpful If Not Even Moreso Once I Owned It... I Recently Met With Him At The Factory And Once Again He Was More Than Accomadating... And My Purchase Was Not From The Factory Or Even An Affiliated Marina....

Sick Stinger 11-09-2007 09:59 AM

Sounds good joe I hope to steve stepp and ask him a few questions some time

wet_rat 11-10-2007 01:26 AM

hhmmm, and to think I was going to give them a call to help with my hull damage and soft cabin floor--they don't know me at all, what are my chances of a returned call?:Whatever:

good , if you don't get him let my know i will get him for you

Padraig 11-10-2007 10:19 AM

i have had a Velocity since 1998 and while have not called the factory frequently I have always had my questions answered promptly, often by steve Stepp himself. The first time i called was about a used Regal Velocity and although he was no longer with Regal he answered my questions honestly giving the good and the bad. The Regal was my first Velocity and my next was a Real Velocity. This was in part due to Steve's willingness to help a almost customer.

While I am in the far Western section of New York but would travel to the Finger Lakes for a Velocity get together.

Sick Stinger 11-10-2007 01:47 PM

Id like to talk to steve stepp sometime think it would be cool and take him for a ride (not that it would be anythign new to him but just because)

Steve is a very hands on guy who is in the shop 90+% of the day so you'll most likely have to leave a message for him. In your message let him know the year & model (eg. 1999 320 w/ 7.4 MPI's?), that you recently bought it and looking for his advice on how to best diagnose and then fix a couple of problems with your boat. If you provide the info up front, what you want and show the same kind of respect that you'd like to be shown, you'll likely get a call back within a business day or two provided Steve's not travelling. Steve will tell you what to look for and how best to fix it.

1HYPER1 11-11-2007 08:12 PM

Steve will call you back but that is not who I was refferring to.

wet_rat 11-12-2007 09:46 AM

Well I will be placing a call this week, hopefully can get some insight on the best way to fix the damage. I wouls LOVE to be a part of the TOT run next month--fingers crossed!!

WOW BIll, Sorry To here you will be leaving us . As one that has just sat back and read all your rant and raves about velocity i have not heard to much positive from you about velocity .other than bad. The only good i have heard is about you and your boat That ragged bought and created. So unless i missed something or took this the wrong way ( i'll apologize). also you have been buying that new boat from velocity for how long now ? But this is just how i see it. I have owned 2 velocity's 22 and 32. I have been in one of the quickest outboard 22's( BP). one of the most insane 26's outboard (BP). and one of the most wicked 30's (Ray Rosenberg) So if you want to toot your own horn, Bye all means do. But don't say you Are thier best sales man or thier best spokes person.(read some of your old blogs) Just my poor little 2 cents. Curt P>S How many new velocityies have you bought?

Single Screw 32 11-12-2007 08:37 PM

Sorry To rant. Ran out of room above. All these boats and people i have mentioned have been loyal velocity people and have stood behind velocity as a whole and would all bye another one. So to Steve and Kim and velocity as a whole group my hat is off to them. Don't let one hyper person speak for the rest of us. Curt

1HYPER1 11-12-2007 11:01 PM

Hey Curt, great second post, dont get on me because it took you how many years and wasted how many peoples time about buying there boat, back off.I am a little different than most I do not sugar coat the truth nor do I want to start now,and yes I bought the boat used, that as you say someone else created and yes I have totally gone through the boat from front to rear and it is what it is.I have only recently tried to buy a new one so you really should not comment on what you no nothing about.I have always spoken very highly about the product and still do but what you are referring to as negative is the truth and if you think I am lying about needing some quality control in past years, just ask around and you will get the real truth and maybe then you will see what I was talking about as well as many many others. The product that is being produced now is a much better than in the past because of the quality controls in place and Steve listening to his customers.OK with that being said I have never personally attacked you in a verbal manner so I dont know where that came from but what ever.PS How many transoms have you put in a Velocity, would you like to know how many I have done and they are a ***** to do but yet I would still buy another one I think that says there that I believe in the product, also I went to the man himself and disguessed my thoughts and feelings and like I said I dont beat around the bush and that is my 2 cents.:Whatever:Wow you have ridden in some really fast Velocitys as well as many others and you are my HERO and how many new Velocitys have you owned.NONE.New or used it does not matter, believing in a product and being totally happy with certain things are different and I have corrected all of mine and I am once again very happy and as far as spending money with Velocity I have spent alot but I dont think I have to justify my spending to you, only the man that has cashed those checks.PS if you dont like the truth,I dont know what to say but in reality the truth is sometimes hard to take.

evileye 11-13-2007 04:04 AM

Not getting a return phone call from Kenny was nothing personal I'm sure. I heard through the grapevine that he had some life threatening surgery this past August and has had some down and recovery time to deal with. That, and with the back and forth turnover of GMs, I'm sure it's been hard on the company's morale. Cut them some slack, because when things settle down, they'll be doing great again, like always

I know Kenny and I'm sure he really does care a lot about his owners and the business.

How about calling him back and asking how he has been doing since his bran surgery this summer ? Then you could re-ask the question ? I'm pretty sure it's NOT about snubbing your questions, but about having the surgery. He may have just forgotten. He didn't return my phone call either so I called back. That's when I heard he was was having surgury.

Single Screw 32 11-13-2007 05:53 AM

Hey no problem , And i'm sure if you talked to steve about your transome. i'm sure he offered to do it at cost or not much more to make it right and what i was getting at is you post something and 3 days later clean it up . Such as your (BETTER THAN NEW COMMENT) and your comment at the top of this forum.BUYING SOMETHING USED OR GOING ELSEWHERE . But my bad since you changed your mind already AGAIN Just had one to many beers and read alot of your blogs and several of us velocity owners are confused as to where you are always coming from . Curt P.S. I heard you say you were buying a new 39 or 41 about three years or so from the factory at the last v fest in North east .

1HYPER1 11-13-2007 06:28 AM

Curt,I have wanted to buy one for a few years, but unlike you I do not waist peoples time until I have the CASH to pay for a new toy,not borrow the money.I have heard for years that you were going to actually buy a boat and stop free loading rides and that took you several years and alot of peoples waisted time before you ever bought,so mind your own buisness and dont worry about what I do and focus your attention on your own buisness and not like a little 2nd grader worrying about other peoples buisness. If you want to disguess this you have my phone number call me,Kenny from the factory just did. Also I never said what I was going to buy if anything but if I do I will ask for your permission so keep your opinions to yourself about me on a personal level, because in reality you only know who I am but you do not know me just like I do not really know you ,just who you are and that you also like many others bought a used boat from a private owner that says Velocity on it.PS if it is any of your buisness I will call you and fill you in on it but until then mind your own buisness, there Mr Single Screw

Shore Thing 11-13-2007 07:51 AM

Sooo........Think we'll go metric?

DKerns 11-13-2007 11:20 AM

Bill, Not to gang up on you, but YOU have claimed to be the "Best Spokesperson" and "Best Salesman" for the brand. That being said, I can go through this Velocity section and find numerous bashes toward the brand. You have assumed that all Velocities have the same WET TRANSOM problem as the USED 32 that you purchased from RAGGED EDGE. You never blamed RAGGED EDGE for selling you the sponge?!?!

After 15 years of FREE LOADING rides, I purchased my own Velocity. And by the way I PAID CASH! After I had redone some things on the boat and repowered it, never did I claim it was BETTER THAN NEW. (1986 with a DRY TANSOM, imagine that!) I have also talked to Steve in depth about the 22 hull and some of the common quirks. He was more than happy to answer any and all of my questions. I had also dealt with Kenny on getting some seat problems squared away. He was more than helpful and RETURNED MY CALLS!

I am not trying to trash you nor am I defending my brother. I just feel that you could be a little more stand up about the problems you have with the brand instead of trashing them all over the web. IF you have any problems you can call me.

Rick, I know it is a ways off, but I am looking to make the trip to Lake Norman in 08. If you can, keep me/us posted on that. If you want to try the props that I have on your 22, just let me know, I will get them to you. Thanks for the info.

Dwayne

1HYPER1 11-13-2007 01:35 PM

Dwayne I dont care that you voice your opinion but I have never singled out your brother for anything and I wont,I have been vocal about the problems with the boat here but I also went to the man himself and expressed my feelings and he offered all of the info he could. With that being said I must still believe in the product or I would not consider buying another, working with Kenny as we speak, but once again I do not think I have to justify my actions to anyone, also I have first hand knowledge of transom issues personally and that is the truth so why dont we ask the members on here what there thoughts are and so you dont just think it is me,with that being said, let them post away and I do not need to call you infact your name was never mentioned.Talk to you soon.

Thanks Velocity Mark. I hear it is a good place for a 22. Look forward to making the trip. If I start saving now I should have enough money for GAS!!!

Single Screw 32 11-13-2007 03:18 PM

As i Said i would apoligize if i took any of this as wrong but you have to read your own post to understand where i'm coming from.your first post on this forum states that you would never buy another velocity because your call was not returned on your boat purchase. So you are buying elsewhere. As far as knowing you yes i've had the privaledge of tossing a couple of beers back and talking velocities but then i started reading some of your rants and your buddy ragged on velocity . These are all out thier for anyone and all to read.2 or three people on this forum have already based thier concerns on your comments just because your call was not returned on your purchasing of a boat ??. You took this all as a personal attack just as much as i did on your behalf toward team velocity so if. As far as wasting steve's time i went looking for a steal when i went and looked at that boat i had $10,000 on me when i went and looked at it but he wanted to fix the motor himself and was firm on the price. after looking at it the wife said no way was she riding in another 22 on the bay. So STEVE I APOLigize to you for wasting an hour of your time for looking at your boat. If you bleed velocity like you say you do read some of your own post's before sending theme. Curt anymore questions i'll be back on tonight. P.S just so you know i'm waiting on the title from bank of america for my 1996 boat and trailer ( FREE AND CLEAR) only took three years At 34 yrs old not to bad . Thanks for being concerned also

Single Screw 32 has ridden in my VELOCITYS and with us in Rays VELOCITYS many, many times and not one time in 18 years did he not offer or pay for FUEL, FOOD OR DRINKS. So for anyone on here to say he is a freeloader or wastes peoples time, YOU better rethink that one my friend.... I don't need to interduce my self as most on here know me and my credibility. By the way CURT taken out the 41 tomorrow, testing some very LARGE PROPS.:cool-smiley-026:

VelocityMark 11-13-2007 09:07 PM

Bill did you talk to Kenny yet? I just talked with him and he was unaware that you had left a message and said to please call him, he has changed cell numbers and lost most of his contact numbers in the old one.

1HYPER1 11-13-2007 09:12 PM

Guys I could care less if you paid cash or financed your boats, what I said was if I can not pay cash for a toy I would not buy it,I do not want a payment on a toy. What you guys do is your buisness, period.Bob how you doin, the boat looks pretty sweet,I like the look and I blame all of this sh*t on you for taking me out on your 22,18 years ago.ITS ALL YOUR FAULT.:D
