X dimension, prop shaft measurement

I measured the distance from the center of the boat bottom to the prop shaft centerline. It measures 3 5/8" below the boat bottom.. Is that a normal depth? I would be interested in what other Velocity 260 owners are seeing for that measurment? Has anyone tried a 1 or 2 inch shorty with any sucess?

I just measeured mine its 4" below the pad. I was wondering if I can find more speed with a 2inch shorty

are you guys getting the shaft level with the bottom if not it will change the measurement a lot i use a angle finder on the pad and the cav plate on the drive to get them the same

I had the shaft level. Steve said it was the standard x dimension & you would need a 5-6 blade prop. He also said no one tried a shorty on a 26.

How far is your prop shaft below the boat bottom? I take it you had blow out problems. Does the boat handle any different?

I just eye balled it, but the angle finder is a great idea. I will try that. Did you do any bottom work? Did you see any gains?
