Yes i would have to agree a set of mild blowers with good gas and a little common sense should make 500 to 600 horse depending on the kit and tune. dropping $20 to $50 grand on used / low hour motors would make me scratch my head alittle. With you living in OK the drives should hold up i would think( We boated on Lake Eufaula and a 6" chop is a rough day LOL) Good luck. Curt

Curt, I just got back from the lake, I was heading up to the 80MPH mark on my GPS @ 4950 RPM and the port engine took a sh!t, I saw my oil pressure gauge go from 50psi to 15psi then a good knock from the engine bay put me on the trailer. Motor still runs strong but oil pressure not over 15PSI so I'm thinking a spun a main bearing the way it knocks.

Honestly, the Blue motors are the way to go! You will be much happier in the long run!. Good luck with your search!
I think so too, Even more since I spun a main bearing today. I'm on the trailer now.

That fukcing stinks. Sorry to hear that. Been there, only good thing its early in the season. When you put it away last season was everything ok? Was there fresh oil in before your blast, or is this a good way to tell your sweety, it wasn't my fault and now I need a rebuild and might as well include blowers. Also been there.

Andy I just changed every fluid the motors and drives had and I didn't even hit the rev limiters. Just going for the top end numbers and all the sudden the oil pressure droped and the knocking started. I was still running hard but 15 psi from 50 and the dreaded knocking noise we all hate to here. First time out this year ". "Bummer" I was hoping to get thru the season before the swap but no luck. Everything on the gauges worked, water pressure was good 30psi, water temp 160, oil temp did get to 260 after the bearing spun but was 230 before. Very happy with the gauges. I'm still searching for blues. The wife knows that sound, She said, "You just sh!t a motor!!" Hee!

Well that sucks!! Atleast it happened before you dumped money into blowers and upgrades. Good luck on your search for the "blue" motors.

Thanks D, Yesterday I had my engine hatch open looking at the 496's and I said out loud I wish you were blue 500's. I guess the 496's heard me.
