Thanks Matt, they did a great job on it. I drove it back to Dereberys today, The trailer pulled great. Nice to have breaks again. It's like effortless towing now. As far as finishing the boat, Alternator crank pulleys and finish up the pre-oiler system, install the flame arrestors slap on the Hydro's then find some RPMS.

RaggedEdge 06-06-2009 06:38 AM

No flames on the fenders? What's with that?

Here is whats up with that.
Paid $5900.00 + Shipping $1,000.00 + Parts $3,300.00, + Paint $350.00 + labor $9,200.00. I about sh!t! Total $18,850.00. Although they did a great job, thought it was a little high on labor. Ragged I did get you one of those camo hats out of the deal.

Like I said in a previous post, very nice, but WOW, I would have never guessed that much!! You need to get Dererberry to get it finished up and go enjoy it!!!

Good news- project is absolutely suberb VV. World class.

At the same time Yeesh-it oughta be for thise kind of bones.

I'm not a cheap guy by any means, but that sounds high to me. In my head I was guessing 5-7K max for labor.

I was all ready to walk into extreme with your picts and declare - "do this" .......uhh Ill hold off a while now.

That's some bones for sure and my mind is wandering back to the 4-5 guys all standing around someone back in the thread said "union job".

Oh well you can always earn more money, but you can never have enough fun.

we want vids!

Looks great! I got to see it up close Saturday.

Andy 06-08-2009 08:34 AM

As Unki Dave said, top notch but killer labour. They must be slow and trying to make there months end on your bill. Pi$$es me off, I'm still not over your rigging bill yet!

DareDevil 06-10-2009 08:06 AM

9600 labor ??? for what ,,,i lost it . Clear me up .

Jigsaw89 06-10-2009 10:08 AM

Sounds like the labor on your trailer was priced out by a Union shop too.

I don't know why it was so high, they musta called Myco and asked them what a trailer like mine would cost to build. I even furnished all the materials, I can't see it costing that much if they had furnished all the materials. It seems it doesn't matter where you get a boat worked on they hit you hard. I could take it to get a flat fixed and it would cost me $50.00 and the guy ahead of me in a 18 wheeler had a flat fixed and cost him $25.00. It's bull sh!t and I'm about fed-up with it.

I would NOT pay that ,,,u need to talk to the guy in charge and go over this....

U can buy a brand new aluminum trailer for that money with driveguard.:angry-smiley-038:

TexomaPowerboater 06-10-2009 03:51 PM

Ditto.

I get angry looking over your bills and I'm not even paying.

RaggedEdge 06-10-2009 08:59 PM

Too late for this project but for future deals I would suggest .....

1) Decide what needs to be done.

2) Write it down / make a list, be specific.

3) Give written info to potential shops / contractors.

4) Make them give back to you a written description of exactly what they are going to do and exactly what each and every part of the project will cost. Period. Do not accept "Well about this much". Should they have a brainstorm that they feel you should consider have that documented and priced as an add on.

5) Agree on the work to be done, only in writing, both sign, then start work. If changes need to be done mid project put those in writing, then proceed, if added time is required due to changes then note that as well.

6) Do not advance any monies, pay in full when completed by the date you have made them write down on the detailed price quote. If progress payments are required, make them only when work has reached agreed points, make sure you have the bigger end of the money stick till all work is done. This keeps them behind the money and motivated to finish the work on time.

Going about things in this manner will sort out the chit heads that are apt to screw you, will spend more time trying to justify why they need more money, and sandbag your azz till the cows come home, not do what you really wanted, and never have it done when they said they would. Only a real organized and well qualified shop will ever agree to this method of doing biz. They are the one you want, might look like a little more money to start but in the long run will be the right place to go.

Unless of course you are dealing with someone like me! Who wouldn't screw you no matter what! :D

VV would have to buy said shop a new filing cabinet. After all the changes, add on's etc. he came up with, there would be tons of paperwork. I bet he has learned his lesson.

Velocity Vector 06-10-2009 11:00 PM

Well I'll give them this, they did just what I asked, did it very well and in a timely manner. I had a 20 ton crane tied up for at least a week, I did make changes / add on's, but not like they had to do anything twice. They used a CNC machine to cut out the tail light holes. All the welding was aluminum. To order a Myco like it would be over what I have in this one. I'll do better next time. Oh and I about forgot the owner of the shop wants a ride....

There you go, when he gets out you can hand him his "Ride Invoice".
Don't forget that fuel adjustment charge.

I think VV is a little sharper than that. He has what he wants now and it is his money.

I even heard that Obama was sending him the "Stimulator of the Month Award" for outstanding performance.

Throw in a couple of figure 8's for good measure. Ohh and don't forget to make the last turn out that leaves about 30 foot of slack in the rope

RaggedEdge 06-25-2009 10:05 PM

So WTF is up here VV? You run this biotch again?

I'm here, I did put the boat on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...%3AMESELX%3AIT to test the market a little, I think it is obvious you can't give a boat away noaday's. Anyway I'm back, and will have an update after the weekend. I started day trading after 3 months of practice and learning the ropes a little, I have done so well at it I'm staying home and not working a real job now. With an average of 9K a week who needs a real job...

Good Luck with the day trading. I was gettin' a little worried about ya!! Glad to hear all is well!!

Velocity Vector 07-16-2009 08:12 PM

You doing good D? It's hot enough to F@#$ standing up!!! We finally got the Graffrig 5" screens for the flame arrestors back from them "after, seemed like 2 months waiting." So the engines should breath a bit easer now. Gaffrig did a great job on them worth the wait.

Doing pretty good VV!! Almost healed up from the surgery!! Playing Mr Mom until the kids start school. I have been researching my options with the boat situation. Undecided on wether I want to buy a new one, a "newer" one, or a bigger one!! Pretty limited on the spending!! I have paid off both cars so I have a little more room to play. Once I get back to work I will make up my mind!!

Glad you got your screens!! I bet they look pretty darn good!!!!:cool-smiley-027:

Keep in touch. I left my new house number on your voice mail today. The cell number is the same!!:ernaehrung004:

I'm sorry Andy, but you have to understand everything I have is for sale but doesn't mean it will sale. I make the wife wear a sale tag when she goes to town.

Matt and I went for a Velocity ride today, it was sorta ruff out there but what a ride. Matt's Nephew was in the floor holding onto the bottom of the back seat a couple times. We hit a Sea Ray wake so hard it got quiet. We couldn't see anything but the stripe running down the bow of the boat.

Starboard engine was starting to get warm so we put it back on the trailer, Matt and I, "Mostley Matt" checked the impeller and it was OK. We flushed and re-tested back on the lake and it never got even close to hot. Thinking we sucked air maybe thru the flush Kit but not sure....Also we got some complements, not on the boat but the sound coming out tails and of course my big muscles.

Hey VV , I will be on an extended m/c trip to Denver in Augest . Definatley taking the long way home, I will be leaving there on 8/11 . Depending on where you boat and if you are available then ? Maybe I could talk you into a ride on my way back east .

TxHawk 07-19-2009 06:39 PM

VV- that ride will carry me through this week. I havent had that much fun in a boat in a while.

I saw a friend at the bar Friday night that said he was at his house in Tanglewood and could hear something "pissed off" throttling down the lake. I wish we had that kind of water everyday!

We missed you Saturday, you stay home and clean?
