Save your mony use the boat and enjoy it!! Once you screw with it, you always will. Leave it stock. Trust me Im on my 3rd 390 I learned the hard way. Once you **** with it and you want to run it something will brake. I had the blower boats and had nothing but head aches. Do you have hyd. str. and tabes. something you should have with any more than 400 hp.

Hey, No one mentioned fuel. I was going the way of a 871 with 2 carbs, I turned back when I relized that the 1.8 mpg at 55mph would drop by 1/2.
my 80 gallon range is about 130 miles. It wouldn't be with a blower.
Hey ask Hyper about it if you don't believe me.

Come on guys, half the fun of this sight is helping someone else spend there money...
I am actually in agreement that you should leave the engine stock so long as it is running well. I too have learned the hard way that modifying a stock engine can, and in most cases, does lead to frustration. The only "add on" that just about always works out is a good aftermarket exhaust system, but the gains are minimal.
I’m running a basically stock 502MagMPI with Stainless Marine exhaust and have been able to resisted to date the erg to swap the cam, heads, and intake for the 500EFI stuff I have sitting on the shelf.
If you have the expendable cash and a real need for more speed, the advice to build another engine up to the task, is the way to go...

Id say whipple to the question. Also blower motors are a kick in the n*ts. Both of mine have been blower motors. But i can tell you this the power is well worth it. Im happy with my 10-71 blown. I had a lot of help from MikeS so keep that in mind toy.

As far as cutting your MPG don't believe everything you hear, if you drive them the same way it will not be that much different. Besides you will be able to cruse at the same speed as before with less RPMs. More HP= larger pitch prop. This is mine.

Tom has good advise , if you have big power be prepared to pay more and boat less . I have had an expensive education on that .Stock is nice , but I know I hear voices !!!
