I don't want to be a smart a$$,,,but fill the pump half way ,,,have somebody with u ,,,stay at the engine while running it and leave the pump open ,,,run engine and your buddy GF who ever can turn the wheel slow to left all the way and then to right ,,,while fluid is going down,,u just keep adding on to it . If fluid is not going down any more ,,u can stop ,,done .
Now u can go ahead and check for leaks.
Also don't forget the waterhose on the engine when running on the trailer.
Also use ATF tranny fluid for the steering,,,trust me ,,,it will work perfect and u can see if u have a leak somewhere real fast.
U also want to have a rag in your hand while doing so because if air bleeds thru the system it will sometimes fart out the pump cap . But leave open and fill while running, otherwise u just put more air in there and it takes longer to get it all out.

Need some suggestions..
Finally got the motor fired up, but it's not drawing water. i've installed a brand new impella, but still not drawing the water.. but i've only allowed the motor to run for at least 30seconds or so, i've check the hoses, and it does not seem to have any blockage, but i will check again today.. i was thinking either filling a large basin and allowing the motor to draw water that way or running to hose throught the hose that goes tho the impella and running water that way and see what happens. and the impella is in the direction of the right way..
thanks

I am thinking of getting new prop but don't know where to start. It is a 1999 260 with the 7.4 MPI Bravo I. Currently there is a 4 blade stainless on it, but I have no idea with the pitch or brand is (no markings that I could find on it). It seems to run good but there are nicks and bends in the prop from the previous owner. Top speed so far was 71 on the GPS which was a little scary since I thought it topped around 62-64. The indash speedo was pegged and it stops at 65 mph. This was the only time I was out on it myself with very little gas too. Anyway, just want a prop that will perform while still using gas efficiently, if that is even possible!
Or should I have my unknown brand prop repaired?
