New gas tank is finished, painted in aircraft zinc chromate primer.
Stainless corner straps were made and the corners were foamed in with marine closed cell foam.

New center floor section was made from Baltek and is gel covered with a new Bomar hatch. Still have to make a starboard ring to go around the fuel full hole to divert water away.

Decided to redo my dash. Most of the boat now being all composite construction, I want to switch to coosa as the corners of the stock one had gotten wet and started to dry rot. The plan is to go with a smaller entrance into the berth making the dash stronger and I plan on running a Apache style zip up vinyl door.

While waiting for more Coosa to come in I had to re-drill the hinge mounting holes and adjust all 4 mounting points to get the new engine hatch to fit properly. Just before I finished tonight I realized one of my new hatch mounts from Dana Marine was bent ! Also check out my new push button hatch release latches. The washers on the through bolts of the hatch will be replaced with stainless plates soon also.

Never saw this thread. Looks real good!! I've been all over mine and haven't found any issues.....thankfully. I had to do this on my last Baja and it was a ton of work and I didn't have to go nearly as far as you did. Good job moving the bulkhead wall forward for blower pulley changes. It is very tight right now!! I love your engine hatch. Like the way it looks with no padding.

What are you plans for the engine?

I have a fully built BBC, just need to buy the blower and carbs.

Question... Why make the bottom of the fuel tank "V"ed ?? I realize it is so it would fit the hull better.... But now if you get any water in the boat forward of the fuel tank it can't flow past it to the rear of the boat?? Could you have laid in a piece of PVC pipe under the tank?? Or would the weight of the full fuel tank break the PVC??

To answer your question, that tank actually has a flat bottom, and drain holes cut forward and behind it. no need to run a pipe, there is nothing stopping it from completely through draining.

This is a picture of the new tank, it's upside down and you can see the bottom is flat.
