At one point this boat was left in the water. So I am guessing it had some water in it at one point.... I will clean it up before installing the Sub. As far as weight goes, I am not too concerned about the weight. We are only talking 35-40lbs. I would rather have one sub in the cabin, than multiple subs under the rear bench. The one sub in the cabin will out perform multiple subs mounted out in the cockpit. A good example would be setting a subwoofer box outside of a car, now take that same box and put it in the trunk of the car. Kind of the same theory.

keep in mind a little weight out on the end of a balance point can be a lot. example i have a friend that has a 25 eliminator cat , boat runs 116 he put 2 10'' subs in the front bulkhead boat went 108 pulled them out 116 again.

Not to worried about scrubbing off a bit of speed. I am not one who is out looking to squeeze every MPH out of my boat. I will seldom run it over 50-55 MPH. I usually have my 8 year old daughter and wife with me.

I have a really nice Alpine Unit that I had in my Baja that I was going to use. However, I just bought a Fusion head unit that has an INTERNAL iPod dock and also can accept up to 3 wired remotes. I have never heard of Fusion, but I have read good reviews on OSO and other sites so I will give the Fusion unit a try. If I am unhappy with the sound, I have my trusty Alpine sitting on the shelf. My Alpine is not a marine unit, so it doesn't have the wired remotes, just a wireless IR remote. So it will be kind of a pain to use in the Velocity as it is mounted inside the cabin...

The kicker l7, and l5's are bad azz.

I had 2 8" l5's in my last boat. Pushed by a 500 watt kicker amp, and it hit HARD.

What is the c.f. requirements for the 12" L7?

You set up looks sweet. i just hung my tv on that wall, so have to figure where to set my amps still. Probably a winter project. spent to much this spring already.

The 12" L7 can run in a box as small as .88 cubic feet and as large as 2 cubic feet. The last box I had it in was right around 1.65 cubic feet. It is hard to get an exact measurement on the new enclosure as there are many angles. But I am guessing it is right around 1.75 cubic feet. Since I have no idea how to figure it out on paper. Once it is done, I may line it with a heavy duty plastic bag and then fill with water. Then measure the water.

Here are a coupl shots of the box (in progress). As you can see I started sanding the Fiberglass to get a smooth surface. There is still a bit of sanding left. Since I will be carpeting the sides I am not too concerned about it being perfectly smooth, but the front of the box needs to be flat to allow a good seal for the Sub as it is a sealed enclosure. The angled pieces had to be done in fiberglass in order to conform to the hull. The Kicker L7 produces an enormous pressure inside the enclosure, so you will notice an internal brace. THis will hopefull prevent the box from flexing. The angled panels were first layed with fleese then coated with resin. Then 2 layers of glass mat was added to the outside and inside. I may still glass in some bracing (on the inside). Now that the enclosure is completly coated in resin, I can fill it up with water and measure the internal space. I will post the measuremets soon.

Here it is completed. I didn't have enough white vinyl, so I figured I'd go with gray. It will be behind the port-a-potty so it's not like it is visible at all times.....

Filled it up with water, then measured the water that was in it. I ended up with 1.67 cubic feet. So take the area the sub itself takes up and should be right at 1.5 cubic feet. Perfect for the L7 12"

Nice job! Better keep the lid down when the bass hits!
