Looked at the Velocity's back in the 90's when the 22' was big and a 350 would run in the 70's,never thought I'd ever own one.
Had it out once ,seems to be solid and has a great power plant, owner had it for 10+ years and was well cared for
Now has a fresh 509 fuel injected w/vortex V4, aluminum heads, custom cam, CMI headers and Max Marine Worx bravo w/1.36 gears, new interior and a Myco aluminum trailer.
Wife likes it from the other boats we've had.
Nice to be part of the Velocity family

Will be enjoying the Velocity threads, now that we have a drivers boat, handles great.

Congrats! You will love the 280 and so will your wife. The first time my wife was in a 280.....she told me, "this is our next boat". I didn't argue.

What year ? I have a 2000 year model as well. I have been thinking about selling it as the pricing on these seem to be hit or miss. I understand any boat is only worth what it sold for. I will say they are fun to drive and fast on the top end for a stock app. I do like them but wished it had more cabin head room.

Thanks guys, we don't stay over night , so a large cabin isn't a priority, but performance and handling is , well at least to me.

Wife's got just enough cabin/porta pot to keep her happy.

I always thought that the 280 had a decent cabin and headroom for a performance boat of it's size.

Not for me 6'3 and not getting lighter as I freakin age. The late model 290 SC makes the 280 feel like coffin or a small closet. I really like the way the 280 handles in the corners. The 280 is not the fastest to get on plane, average mid range speed but great top end. I have a stock 454 HO MAG - 385 hp. Rough water ride is above average but not the greatest.

I have 2006 28 DDC Challenger - 496 - 375hp that will kill the velocity 280 in a 1/4 mile drag race but after that that the Velocity 280 will say bye bye. The Velocity is about 8 to 10 MPH faster on the top end and the Challenger has one big step on the bottom.

The Challenger handles rough water better than the Velocity but can not even come close to corning like the Velocity 280 can. I would have to say for 26 ft and above boat range - IMO the Velocity 280 is one of the best corning boats I have been in from medium rough to glass smooth water conditions.

Also the 28 Challengers head room is huge I can sit anywhere in the cabin.

Anyways enjoy your Velocity, and still did not catch what year you have. Sorry to change directions here.

Yeah its a little tight, but my wifes 5'2" so perfect, my 280 gets on plane very easy and pulls all the way through, just takes a little power, nothing is going to pull mid range with 385HP
