Joel, Steve actually has an '81 also that he bought recently and is in the process of restoring. It came out of LI, NY and he molded up a new hull to go under it. Steve posted a pic about a week ago on his Facebook. Hope yours is coming along now also. |
I first met Steve in 1984 at his Pompano facility. At that time he was making the 26,
and was in the build process of the 22. He is always a great guy to talk to. I always looked him up when I went to the Miami boat show. In 2006 I almost bought a new 32, but at that time the price was about 20K over the Sonic 31ss. The Velocity's are always the fastest given the same power. I greatly admire Steve for making his boats safe. I don't believe Velocity ever ventilated their hulls. |

I bought a new 2013 26 cc from Steve before he sold the company. My velocity developed several cracks in the gelcoat in and around the transom even though I had hardly used it. I found out that it ended up needing some minor warranty transom reinforcing work. The new owner of the company refused to fix the issue. Apparently this would involve approximately 3-4 hours of work.
To me that says alot about their long term vision for the company. Keeping past customers of a brand happy is fundamental to building future business. How you treat past customers is huge. |
