Excellent idea, thanks for the tag to the other linked page. I'm still in the concept stage wanting to stay dry "ALL" the way to the end of the tail pipe. I've done a little lay out work where water will feed into the riser but the stock riser water exits would be welded closed. Add a nipple at the top of the riser to have water exit into the tail pipe. Now here's where it gets interesting. The tail pipe: 4" OD SST w/a 3 1/2" ID SST exhaust pipe. What I'm saying here is, its a "TUBE INSIDE A TUBE", welded together (water tight) water dump holes at the end of the tails. Water from the blocked off riser would be fed into a bung welded onto the front section of the tail pipe filling the air space between the two pipes, Silicone coupler to secure tail pipe to riser,.

I'm always open for opinions/thoughts/second guesses etc, etc......................

Idea should work fine. The following link gives some good tips on welding bungs thru dual wall risers.

Thanks for the link..............I'm very familiar with welding bungs in all sorts of headers, steel and stainless, have done countless bungs. In this case it make sense to weld in the bung prior to having the inner exh tube already welded to the outer tube (closed chamber). This closed chamber would require a gas fill of the internal space (water chamber) while welding the bung to the exterior to ensure a 100% leak proof quality weld.

Ok, new project while I'm waiting to finish up my Dry Exhaust Mod Project........Transom LED's that'll light up a football field for under $100 (providing you have the ability to machine some aluminum or have a buddy to do it for you). Requires 3 1/2" OD 6061-T6 Round Alum. Bar Stk., some 1/2" aluminum round stk., Ebay 100W LED Chips (color of your choice), 2 12V DC Boost Converters and some wire, Silicone High Temp "O" Rings, Stainless Steel screws and two Ebay 78mm Collimator Lens. I didn't think of mentioning this till after I was done, so I apologize I didn't take pics as I went, but you'll get the idea and I'll try to explain in details in a follow up post if your interested, post up and if there's enough interest I'll put something together.

Aft end water exits, top opening is calculated to the exact same size/surface area as to OEM Riser opening, same with the bottom drain:

FWD Riser end, I'll need to flare out this end a little more to eliminate the slight gap showing at the top (easier to weld up):

Water transfer elbow from OEM Riser to Tail Pipe elbow shown with weld positioning fixture:

I pick up the 2 project donor OEM Risers I bought off eBay Monday from chemical striping of the coated material, then mod those to Tig weld on a stainless elbow for water discharge connection to the tail pipe. Risers will be powder coated metallic purple, easier than polishing when they're completed........, new exhaust riser flange gaskets showed up to day as well. Pics forth coming upon progress made.

I welcome any and all comments you may have on this exhaust mod project...................

Good idea on stripping those risers. The Merc paint is really tough to get off. Project looks great. It's gonna be really nice when complete. How close to the transom exhaust tip will the new riser setup be? I went the cheap poor mans way and just extended the inner exhaust portion of the riser to 1" off the exhaust tip. Can't wait to see/hear the finished product.
