wait to you have to remove the crossover and install the gaskets and the hose under that which connects to the top of the water circ pump fitting. Have to do that as well when replacing any 496 water circ pump. But once you do one then the rest come alot easier. Its the no front access I hate. Baja always leaves no room for any front access.

Velocity is the same way. Mine might have 1" between the front of engine and rear seat backrest.

BUP
Ryan00TJ,

Not looking forward to the day the circ pump needs replacing, mine too has little room between the seat back and front pf the motor. Actually thought about that as I was cussing the Sea Pump and idler pulley bracket during removal, wondered why there was not an easy to remove seat back area to expose the front of the motor. If and when that day comes, there maybe a mod coming for the seat back.

Just to share, this is what my back flush brought, it's only a small amount in the pic as I already vacuumed out most of it, actual amount was about a hand full of the same sized debris.

Anybody know what the hose ID sizes are on the Sea Pump ? I failed to measure when I had it apart for the Sea Strainer. I'm just curious since I remember the brass hose nipples on the back side Sea Pump are different sizes.

Thanks

Do you still need the hose sizes? I have the stock water pump back plate in my basement. If you need the sizes I'll dig it up for you.

I'm sorry, I don't have an extra back plate of the water pump. I have the pump body itself. I purchased the Hardin stainless pump that reuses the stock backing plate that the hoses go on. In my mind I discarded the back plate, not the main body itself. I found my box of extra parts and realized I can't help you. Sorry

Reporting back on the Sea Pump repair using the new $100 kit:

Perfect is all I can say, motor is nice an cool again (165-175). Kit was easy to use and install, no instructions are supplied so common sense is your teacher. I did run the back pump plate across a 6" belt sander with a 120 grit belt to make it perfectly flat as it did have a little wobble to it when I laid it on the table of my mill. Used some of the wife's coconut oil for impeller install in the pump housing and "BLUE #242 Loctite" on all threads during reassembly as I did notice the the pump back plate screws were all loose when I pulled it out off the motor.

This problem case is closed and I'm back on the water.............:D
