I sure hope they ship fast, just ordered mine yesterday. This kit was already in my Sea Pump from the previous owner, couldn't figure out where it came from (wasn't OEM that's for sure) till I did a web search and found it, my impeller failed me Monday. It's a great alternative to a new pump but wish I knew too what the life span was.

it had one season on it when you got the boat. Thats pretty disappointing. I bought the kit to try and save a few bucks over the whole new pump assembly too.

I'm not going to say that its the quality of the impeller that failed because of all the debris that got sucked in.

Hooked up the scan tool to check my block water psi with the aftermarket 496 pump rebuild kit installed. Read 32psi at idle. Raised to 33 with a 2000rpm rev. Thought that was too high. Did some reading and found a old post from Whipple stating their stage 2 496 tune had the low water psi fault relaxed. Either way the rebuild kit is working flawlessly so far.

Glad to hear it...........

Thought I would post a long term review of this kit. Pulled the seawater pump out to replace impeller. Aftermarket Marine 496 kit had two summers and 65hrs run time. Stainless wear plates looked new. Impeller looked great. Still as soft and pliable as when it was first installed. Could have easily went a 3rd summer on it. Ordered a replacement impeller from them to reassemble. Thumbs up from me...

Mercruiser has a repair kit and uses a .30 shorter impeller. I have a repair kit that uses the stock impeller.

Will add for info --- Merc newest design impeller housing is really good - front access - remove and replace within 5 mins max. Its about time they made this an easy maintenance unit. Also it offers a rebuild kit as well.

stock 496 MERC app with stock app Gen VII water pumps, the Merc specs are 1 to 5 psi MAX at idle and 30 PSI max at WOT ( accurate readings ). IMO for the stock set up 35 psi water pressure is the fence line at MAX WOT ( accurate readings ) .

Asking How do you have 32 psi at dead idle as I thought your app was stock , I have never seen any GEN VII pump over 4 psi at dead idle. And when I say gen VII pumps I am talking about all of them from Merc small blocks on up to the big blocks that used them as well.

PCM has a Whipple Stage 2 tune. It has the seawater psi pretty much turned off. It stays in the low 30s regardless of rpm.

BTW... shipped the injectors. Should arrive Monday. Have a happy thanksgiving.

I like the idea of the stock impeller in a repair kit. I would have tried it had I known. How does it work vs others like the AM kit? About time Merc had a easy to replace well designed seawater pump.

Got your injectors from UPS by hand. Possible can start checking them out tonight if not tomorrow nite. I have your cell to forward the pics and vids of the testing when I do start on them. Thanks John
