Overall situation

This aint a straight shot. Have to make sure i put it between the carb and valve cover.

Used one of the short pipes to reference measurements

I lifted another short pipe and spaced it up over the valve cover to mock it up and check for clearances. I had to also keep the pipe the exact same over all length as the original to keep everything matching on length. Drew up some diagrams to email Stainless and keep it straight in my head as I went through it all.

Now i have something to work from

Im not an artist so cut me some slack

At this point I needed a top dead center reference. This took two trips to Stainless and we did this in sections to make sure I had exactly what I wanted.. I must say Letty at Stainless was a total sweet heart to work with.. she and the team met with me on the phone and the welder just to be sure we were all on the same page.. they worked with me on each of my steps..

Setting the height to then double down on tdc

This tdc will allow me to rotate the pipe to achieve the proper height. Then we can weld up the rest of the pipe. The welder had to mount this on his table and use the same reference point and weld level from that point on.

The centerline is how i determined the offset distance for the next piece referencing the drawing. Again some of my pics are out of sequence

Confirmation on length as i plot the next weld joint

Referencing a bleed hold on another pipe so the new pipe bleed would be in the same spot

Straight edge across the other pipes to confirm length sticking out

WOW looks Beautiful. Did you ever think about 2 into 1 exhaust or would that hurt performance.

Not sure about performance but I only needed one pipe so this was my easiest and cheapest route, personally I'm not a big fan of two into one.

Now that the pipes are on I can cut some templates and get the glass work done on the transom around the holes. Obviously the holes were opened "up" and "out" with the taller block. Here we go again with debris in my clean bilge and then I'll have another mess to clean up. It is brutal doing things in random order and creating extra work but what are you going do.....
