Staggered

A 39 Gun is 38'6 and ~9300lbs (per Cigarette) with a notched transom. My 37 AT AVH measures 37 feet and some change and weights ~10250lbs less fuel without a notched transom. They measured and weighed my boat when they built the new trailer last month. The question at his is, does the boat need or could it benefit from a staggered configuration? In my opinion, as an owner, and my experience being around them since the first one in 1999, and the only staggered boat, is no! The facts tell me that the AT has side by sides, weighs 700-1K lbs heavier, ~a foot less running surface, and runs 105 with less than “super” props (stated in the article). The 39 Gun and the 38 Donzi (8800-9000lbs, with a 24 inch swim platform), benefit greatly from the staggered configuration, but run ~identical speeds as the AT. The bottom line is that the DDC hull balances the boat naturally and gives it comparable speeds with more weight than the competition. Weight helps with rough water capability thus AT’s biggest asset. The only thing I would recommend, and Pat is not going to like this, is adding ITS or a 6 to 8 inch standoff box to help get more bow lift with out doing it with props only (I love you Uncle Pat).
PS- The 39 Gun is one of my favorite boats and is probably the only other V-hull I would own. I was close to buying one until Uncle Pat & Jay took me and my dad out in 5-6 footer on my demo ride at 50-60mph. Sydwayz an my Dad chuckbeecher were also a little persuasive.

I was talking about the stagger boat, not the newer ones. I was on the boat when it was at a repo yard and it wasn't really a great boat. It was beat to death and dirty as all get out so it wasnt a good impression. Also the boat did end up spinning and flipping so the stagger must not have worked out well as crb said.

I am not saying I am the best or even that good at driving either.
I love a staggard boat though. Don't really care anymore. I'll take one either way if the price is right and it starts when you turn the key or push the button.

The Donzi 38ZR came from the comp so it was true 38ft boat then the swim step was added. It seems to me that the AT works very well than for whats its lugging around. But the Donzi ZRC which does weigh in close to 9000lbs and no cabin is running 99-100 with 525's. The stagger AT spun and flip right where I boat and I did see it in person. Not a very good boat in my opinion. I would love to get a ride in a 37 AT since ive been in all its competion in all differnt kinds of water and it would be cool to compare.
