I never saw more than 89 with Roy's with muliple prop swaps, computer changes and testing.

Also you are talking the old Bravo lower case wth the 600s since the Sportmaster did not exist back then. A shortee Sportmaster would be very interesting.

Merc warranties the 600s with the Bravos. You sure can play with pulleys and computers to give you what you want if ou are inclined. Of course only after the factor warranty period.

The 600s and the 700s sans the drives are damn near the same engine with just a little different tweaking. No 'old school' technology in either.

The upgrade cost isn't that much on the 600s and I think it would make for an interesting package.

Hasn't there been step size changes since those early ones?
Didn't Mercury not warranty the Bravos with the 6oos back then? We still have a 38 Scarab from those days still running around here and they still have problems with those old drives.
In fact the scarab guy couldn't buy it as a package.

That was because it was staggard!!!!!!

When you talk about he heaviest. Was that after they pulled it off the bottom a few years back?

In all seriousness, marginal cost will=marginal benifit here. 3mph for how much?

What is th difference in the super charger that is on the 600 and the whipples that active mike has on his boat. Evidently they are making different horse power. Is it the boost?

I am guessing that mecury has the boost very low. When the warranty is up on the motors can the boost be increased to get the same results as active mike?

Direct answer to your question, yes it is the boost. You can play with pulleys and fueling and pressures all day long on almost ANY of the supercharger systems.




While the 525EFI and the 600SCi can be very close in output on a cool crisp, non-humid October day, the 600SCi IS a superior engine. Virtually, the only difference between the 600SCi and 700SCi (from the flywheel forward) is computer changes, cooling changes & supercharger tweaking.

The 600SCi has torque management which saves the B1XR drive. The 525EFI does not have this torque managment, and the 700SCi does not worry about it as much since it has the NXT drive.

(The torque management programming in the computer only pours on enough torque to get the boat on plane. This keeps you from slamming all the available torque into the gears of the B1XR and ripping them to pieces. When you are up in the RPM band, the engine is unrestricted. The Whipple/aftermarket setups to not have this capability. This is also the same capability that GM used in their trucks with the 496/8.1L gas engine. When they mated the 8.1L with the ZF 6spd. manual and Allison 5spd automatic transmissions in the 2500/3500-HD trucks, the 8.1L was un-restricted in 0mph+ acceleration. When they mated the 8.1L with the M32/4L80E 4spd Auto. transmission in the 2500 Avalanche/2500 Suburban, they managed the torque output (roughly 70%) so as to not rip the transmission or other driveline parts out when accelerating from a dead stop. Once the truck is moving & up shifting, the torque is released.)


Hence, JeffC per your specific wants out of the boat...

My recommendation would be to go with the 600SCi/B1XR package. It is proven to be at least 5-6mph faster than a comparably equipped 525EFI/B1XR in the 37 Active Thunder application.


UNLESS, you want to go with the 725 Ilmor/Indy drive package. Then we are into a whole new ballgame & AT is eager step up the plate.

Jeff, you need to have Pat build you a 43 with ASDs and pair of 1200s from Eddie Young. Maybe even go nuts and see if Pat will go staggered...and put it in a bow thruster.

That's my Powerball dream at least...

Pat please PM me the price differance between the 525 and 600s also with the 600 can you do a full pad with out scoops?

Ive driven a asd-6 in a 34 Hustler...back to back against the same bravo boat at LCM. Loved it..It handled just as well, took about 1 second longer to plane but out accelerated the bravo hands down in the mid-range and top end. Really liked it, and can handle loads more power/torque than any of the bravo's. No need for thrusters. Eddie Young motors..you got it, no problem..but I would be happy with his 850's. Don't want to over exceed the ASD-7's hp ratings to stay in the warranty.. Rik said he'd warranty them for at least 5 years. AS to Pat's 43..I'm still waiting to see a rendering

Dash.. make a real dash with a pad.. I dont like the coffin look.. side intake vents need some updating reshaping?

got some more ideas but dont want to get my nuts cut here.. lol..

anyone add anything?

I may regret this tomorrow.....

The dash, albeit somewhat plain and functional, is readable when you corner at 70+ in a patented, single step-bottom boat.

Now the "pretty" dashes that look good when you're going in a straight line just don't hold up once you make a sharp turn and end upside down.....Livorsi gauges are good but not really waterproof in this envirorement.

Bring your oxygen tank. It has a gauge that works under water, too.

You only need a padded dash if you buy a boat that you expect to throw you into it.
