Looks nice. What product are you using? Where did you purchase it? I still have my
engines out so this would be the time to redo it all.
Mine is ugggly! I wasnt going to mess with it but I see you are using a brush. (I didnt want any spray going on)
Thanks for the pics.
Timmy.

Trying PPG 2 part White Polyurethane this time. Last time used PPG 2 part epoxy. Salesman said urethane wouldn't stain as bad as the epoxy did.

DA sanded with 400 where I could get the sander then hand sanded the tight spots with 220 grit. Then just brushed on the paint. The bilge on my boat has the mat showing so no big deal to use a brush or a small roller. I took most of the stuff out of the bilge. I taped off the rest.

Bilge looks great. I've been waiting two months for my new intakes to come in so I could finish my engine build. We finally got them Friday and yesterday got the first engine on the dyno. Took some time chasing and electrical gremlin. Ended up being my distributors. Final pull........637HP at 5600 rpm and peak torque was 686 at 4100 rpm. I can't say enough about my buddy Eric (owner of EB Marine) and Troy. I am very pleased with the results and they have been great threw out the whole thing.

Finished the bilge tonight. Start putting the bilge back together tomorrow, waiting on some motor parts. Rod Bearings, balancers, timing gear bolts and oil pump intermediate shafts.

Powdercoating finished will pick up in the am.

Just a freshen up. No big improvement except longevity (I hope.)

I'm just trying to keep up with the metaphorical AT Jone's like Las, OCD, Flenner, Raddiction, Tfarmer, you Rick Steiny and the guy with the blue light special stereo (Probably no keeping up with the blue lights though, way ahead of his time).

Will we see you at JOTJ this year?

flenner 02-07-2010 08:29 AM

First motor was 637hp at 5600rpm. The second motor was 12hp shy of that. I am very pleased with how things turned out. I tried to upload one of the dyno runs but it wont go threw. I guess the file is to big.

flenner 02-07-2010 08:33 AM

I'm all ready committed to another run on the same date as JOTJ. I promised James I was going to bring "Hyper Active" back one day. I'm shooting for 2011.

Thunderstruck, I use to use the stock pickups like you got here
and I would have to tig weld the rorund screen part to the tube
and then the tube to the pump. It looks like it would be the time to do it.
I learned the hard way. I have found a few laying in the botton of the pans on engines that were just getting freshened up also.
Good luck with your build. Timmy.

Looking very good, we are heading to Miami on wednesday for a break and will see the PR boats off on friday.

Repainted my bilge this winter.... did basic upkeep (spark plugs, distr caps, plug wires, upgraded to larger oil filters, strainers etc). This is my first winter with the boat so I wanted to make sure everything was in tip top shape. Also rebuilt both starters just to be safe. Removed refrigerator and build custom cabinetry to match the rest of the interior. Installing JL speakers throughout cabin right now. Also replaced all drive cables, shift cables, and throttle cabled. Got new snap in coming for the cuddy also. Been a winter of refresh and getting things up to my standard. The 454's are stock with 400 hours so I am expecting some internal work over the next 4 years or so. Probably just replace them or sell the boat and move on up. I really like the Active Thunders and the Black Thunders looks alot. My sonic keeps me happy now though.

R Addiction 02-17-2010 09:06 AM

Kyboy, Love the layout of the 31 Sonic. Any pictures? Like to see your cabinets.
