its not Drock's fault . first time out motor ran great and this last time i ran it 3 days before this happened . it kind of looked like it was running a little to lean according to one of my mechanic friends who builds racing motors. also we came out of water at one point unexpectedly and over revved the motor . my msd box didnt have a rev limiter and i didnt know that . new one will

Id say get the rest of the story before you talk. I put about 20 TROUBLE FREE hours on it last summer. The only thing I did to it was put new bowl gaskets in the carb when I bought the boat, change the all the filters and oil/drive lube, fix a leak around the fuel sending unit and put gas in it! I paid alot more for my new boat and have dumped over $2000 into it and had it out 3 times. Any suggestions Sir?

Damn dude, that sucks. Sounds like you have the right friends though to help get it fixed right. Will be worth it in the end, boat is awesome.

Looking closely at your pics... Thats a leaking head gasket. That will always melt the top ring land off the piston and thats a common area for it to leak.. Put it back together with Cometic MLS head gaskets, Make sure deck and head surface is smooth and a very good finish. I would recommend you have the block deck and heads remachined as long as its apart. Usually You can have a machine shop hone the block with a torque plate and it will clean right up as long as it didnt break the ring and score the cylinder. New piston and everything else freshen up too of course. Unless it supercharged, You cant lean melt an engine with the compression ratio these things have. It will pop and run poorly if its too lean before it melts it. Good luck and hope you get it together quickly!!

we didnt see any common signs of head gasket problems .the cylinder seems ok surprisingly . just a little carbon buildup right where piston broke . ever hear of replacing just 1 piston because everything else looks perfect ?
