This is the one I talked about that will be powered with the new Mercury Racing 565s.

Sydwayz 08-19-2013 09:20 AM

Looks slippery! Has the bottom been blueprinted yet?

Good question.......

KRAUSMOTORSPORTS 08-19-2013 09:35 AM

Looking good! Really wish I could afford one of these! 32 is ideal length for running in the Chesapeake! Is it my eyes playing trick or do I think I see a small step in that hull? And would there be any advantage of adding a pad like the velocities? Just curious

POWERPLAY J 08-19-2013 09:35 AM

Bad ass! Great to see another popped. And 565's to boot.

The 32' Active Thunder (straight bottom) was discontinued several years ago (although Pier57 might make me rethink that remark. :D )

This is a 33' Evolution with the DDC hull, just like it's big brother the 37'. The 33' is almost exactly a 9/10s scale model of the 37'.

Have belt sander; will travel! I'll be right down.

Those long strakes look perfect; almost like a naval architect designed and patented it or something. :evilb:

Sweet!! Keep pics coming. 33s rock!!!

sommerfliesby 08-19-2013 02:45 PM

Wow! With 565s, that thing will run at LEAST 111....

So good to see you staying busy Pat, please keep us updated on this one also. The 29 and now this is the only reason I come on here these days.

I agree. Only a web cam of the builds would be more entertaining. Well...if you go that route, hire a couple models.:evilb:

SS930 08-20-2013 06:34 AM

I'm happy to see another 33 being built! You don't see many of them around, but I've heard notthing but good things about them. Should be a nice package with the 565's!

BUP 08-21-2013 11:50 AM

Is that a 4 inch step, it looks like it might be bigger from that pic and angle. What hull was that without the step ?

Actually a little under 3" but the air intake (cutout) makes it look bigger. Same hull in other picture. I gel and skin the V-bottom mold and then set and adjust the step accordingly and lay up the boat. We pull the part and flip it, cut the skin off and there is the DDC! Next step is to blue print the piece you see with the step.

Dam it! I should have known better,:lolhit: but I thought maybe you had some old phuck like me that just won't give in to the step age.
Ya had me going for a while there:rolleyes:

mikebrls 08-21-2013 07:18 PM

on your next one Pat can build you a 33 with no step :)

Dukedonzi 08-21-2013 07:56 PM

This is interesting I love watching how you build these things, keep posting!

POWERPLAY J 08-21-2013 08:02 PM

Is the step a seperate tool? Do you have the capability of making a 33 no step? Just curious.

I think the step is an insert that they put into the mold, giving them the opportunity to move it around for different power, etc. If this is the case then they should be able to pop one with no step.

Yes he can and if I had the $$$$$ he would be building one. He does enjoy tease'n the chit outa me:rolleyes:

R Addiction 08-21-2013 08:19 PM

At least!!!

POWERPLAY J 08-21-2013 08:23 PM

Ahh gotcha.

POWERPLAY J 08-21-2013 08:24 PM

Just curious cause I have done bucks before for builders and have not had the chance to play with placement.

REMEDY 08-22-2013 06:40 AM

Why would anyone want one without the DDC hull? That step and aft hull is what makes the boat!

so HP...wieght...drives all play a factor in your placement???:party-smiley-004:

302Sport 08-22-2013 08:53 AM

If I had an order for one I would walk down the street to where Harry Schoell resides and have him advise me and build according to his design.

This was precisely what I did when we built the 33 with outboards. The man knows his stuff.

BUP 08-22-2013 12:02 PM

just asking is the single step in a DDC bottom placed closely in the area of the driver and passenger seats ? I would think gas tank size and placement of it would also effect the placement of the step in a DDC hull.

It's directly under the driver/front passengers' feet. Advantage: 20, 50, 80 mph, it ALWAYS pivots right there; exactly where you expect. We've posted some additional info on this in the past.

BUP 08-22-2013 12:31 PM

Thanks Brian as you know I had some of this info from Challenger. I already know what you are going say as not the same the bottom. I hear you. I still have my 2007 Challenger DDC 28. The boat is rock solid and weighes dry at 5850 lbs. The boat handles rough water conditions a lot better than my Velocity 280 but not as fast with almost same hp ratings. I am a true believer that the DDC hull (single step) works very well in the rough is my point here. Thanks again for all the info.

I'm old school I guess, speed isn't the end all for me and it is so much easier to get on or off the trailer by myself at the chitty ramps around here.
I would never ever put all that high dollar paint on a boat again either.
