Ha, one thing I have learned is don't believe everything you read on here. Some may claim 10% slip, never going to happen. With 4 blades the slip was close to 21% so yes, 5 blades do slip less. Slip is just a number and doesn't mean much. If the slip was 12% you wouldn't be able to spin the prop you currently have, the engine would be under too much load to pull a 29 pitch. The RPMs would drop and you would then need to prop down, gaining nothing but a lower slip number. Just an FYI, don't try different lowers either. I talked to Pat about it and he said NO to shorties and standard IMCO or Sportmasters. Claimed I would lose speed with all of them.

Little update on this thread, decided to give the Bblades 5 speeds a try from the couple good reviews I read on them as well as I was curious about the prop demo program. Ended up demoing a 30p 5 Speed which is a 15.5 inch diameter prop. Took the boat out today with about 50 gallons of fuel and 2 people, similar load as last time I ran with the 29p Hydros. My cruise at 3500 went from 50 mph to 58 mph and at 4000 from 57 mph to 67mph. Top end went from 80-81 at 5300 to 82 at 4900. Overall I was very pleased with the results of this prop, the only downfall being it is just a tad too much wheel for my boat. I am working with Brett to dial this prop in to pull 5000 rpms on a full load to potentially squeak out any top end and hopefully keep a majority of the cruise speed in the 3-4000 rpm range. I will post the results after I get the props back again.

I wouldn't send those props anywhere. 8-10 mph gain in cruise and more top speed. Light on fuel by yourself and that should be at 5200 86 mph. Those are 1.36 drives? What finish option on the blades?

Blades are the high polish finish and correct 1.5 ratio as Griff said. They’re going to be tweaked to a 29 instead of getting lab finished. And Im not sure if I could pull that many RPMs and even if I could I don't plan on boating by myself with no fuel very often lol. Trying to be realistic and keep the boat propped for everyday boating which is usually full of fuel and 4 people give or take. The hydros will be for sale once I get the Bblades props back, and I would like to get a set of 4 blades for spares/top end props.

Those are some impressive mid-range improvements. I had some BBlades labbed 32 Bravos. Those were the worst prop I have had on any boat. In rough water, they were almost impossible to get the boat on plane. You may have found the secret prop with the 5 Speed. If you do try a 4 blade, give the 4 speed a try, I'm curious now how that would work.

So I just realized I never updated this thread as far as the props go. Got the 5 Speeds back from BBlades after they tweaked them to a 29 pitch. Holeshot is great as long as you ease into the throttles until they bite before you give too much throttle, which I generally let it come up pretty slow anyways. I ended up losing 2mph in my mid ranges which was expected, and top speed was a whisker more. Me and the little woman with 3/4 tank in a nice 2 foot chop were able to pull 82.5 mph GPS out of it on a 85* day on Lake Ontario. The boat ended up pulling about 5050 rpms on the starboard and about 4950 rpms on the port, give or take trying to read the numbers at 80+ can be tricky. Not sure if the difference is in the props or an adjustment elsewhere. Nonetheless, very happy with these props on a 37/525/XR boat! I recommend these to anyone looking to to with a 5 blade wheel to gain some cruise speed. Here are some numbers for reference:
3000 - 47
3500 - 55
4000 - 65
4500 - 75
5000 - 82.5 WOT
3000 - 47
3500 - 55

5000 - 82.5 WOT
